Right now, Jagras and Kushala have impact phials, the problem with it is it only use the RAW part of the weapon stats making them lesser than their power element phial counterparts. like Legiana vs Kushala CB. Even if Kushala Charge Blade has higher stats vs Legiana Charge Blade, Kushala will deal less overall damage because of lower phial explosion damage.
Since this is the case, most of the upcoming charge blades have impact phials making them less viable. To improve it and make it usable, make an elemental impact and use the weapon’s elemental values.
With the upcoming monster, Mizutsune has an impact phial, and even if it has higher overall stat vs Jyuratodus Charge Blade, I won’t craft or build it because of how elemental impact works. We’re stuck with jyura cb.
Artillery works on impact but doesn’t on elemental and assuming we will get more driftstone colors in the future, you should be able to reliably build with impact in mind
Moreover impact builds up stun, elemental doesn’t. Stunned monster is free damage. If anything, I feel like, as always, elemental doesn’t compare to impact by a long shot, and it’s impact that’s actually better in all fields but damage. But what do I know, I just main this weapon since 4th gen
Charge Blade builds are tight, adding artillery to Elemental impact means you’ll lose some important skills like elemental attack, offensive guard, wex, crit - I know phials don’t crit but a crit axe damage is huge.
Impact Charge Blade is amazing in the main series because you can spam saed and aed and get tons of stuns, but in mhnow, we’re pretty limited in time.
while it’s true that we’ll get more driftstones in the future and we can build from there, you can’t deny that the current elemental impact is lacking.
Feels ridiculous that charge blade builds specifically have to be so unfairly designed in a game where elemental attack is king.
If there’s going to be more artillery and phial support it needs to come now, since people are really trying to decide how they want to diversify their elemental builds, especially water with Mizu, and the lack of good chargeblade options just makes the weapon feel totally unloved.
Please at the very least make Mizutsune and Kushala Daora have these phials, Jagras can stay impact as a beginner option + niche build. But preferable would be support for all three weapons and the ones that are to come in the future.
The text for Artillery says it improves Charge Blade Phial damage, but it doesn’t affect Power Element Phial damage. Either this is not working as intended OR the text needs to be corrected.
I also agree that the overall damage of Impact Phial Elemental Chargeblades seem much weaker than Power Element Phial Chargeblades. I have tried Kushala and Legiana at the same weapon grade, but I do not feel motivated to further upgrade my Kushala. Legiana can be tracked and is easy to build. Kushala is extremely expensive and does not offer benefits except for Hunter’s Unity. Similarly why make Mizutsune CB when its damage is weaker than Jyuratodus?
Stun. Stun is plenty reason. Why are people so help bent on the elemental phials to begin with when those two have significantly different playstyle to begin with. Ele works best with axe combo and impact is for AED spam builds, and it requires less investment (go ham on arti and slugger, stuff some extra fast work and you are done) and is safer to use
