Please stop hiding or phasing out or whatever you call it monsters on the map, i know im not the only one missing monsters on the map, sometimes reloading app couple of times helps to spawn stubborn monsters, sometimes you need other people to invite you to hunt a monster that for some reason is invisible on your phone…
I want to add on to this as well, that it has been occurring for a long time (several months, possibly since the game’s release).
Am on Samsung S23 Ultra, and have been seeing such an issue since before v70.
I’ve experienced the following at least once:
When playing the game for a long time, especially when the play time spans across respawn times, there is a chance that some of the respawned monsters don’t appear on the map initially.
Sometimes, after slaying a field monster and completing the hunt and returning to the field map, I can see a large monster appearing on the map for like half a second before it disappears. These monsters are never meant to be on the field map for the hunter, as they don’t appear after restarting the map. This random large monster appearance feels like it’s the game showing me the monsters from the Palico’s map, not the Hunter’s map. But we’re not supposed to be able to see the Palico’s map, since their map is solely for the purpose of marking random monsters using Palico Paintball. This happened without going through the respawn times. I’ve observed this issue at least twice. There may be other times where I failed to observe the occurrence.
Once, I had a large monster appearing out of nowhere, and this is right after restarting the app at around x:15. I recall that I was clearing an area of large monsters, and when the time hit x:00, I decided to restart the app to make sure that I did not miss any large monster due to this issue of monsters not appearing on the field map after a respawn but before the player restarted the app. After restarting the app, I continued to clear the new spawns until the vicinity is cleared. I then held my phone upside-down and started to walk back to where I came from. My phone had the Battery Saver and Vibration features enabled in the in-game settings. As I took a few steps, moving about 5m back towards the direction I came from, my phone vibrated. I was surprised, because I know I am not near any large gathering nodes, and there should be no large monsters already. But, when I raised my phone to look at the field map, a Rathalos appeared out of nowhere within my access circle, along the path that I came from.
Next, I think this is related to the respawn, is that I often see the number of stars on the monsters after the respawn are not what the monsters’ strength really are. For example, when I play the game until the monsters respawn, I saw that there is a new 9-star Banbaro, so I went to fight it. But when I tap in, the hunt preparation screen shows that it’s a 10-star Banbaro, and when I back out to the field map, it is indeed a 10-star Banbaro. I thought I saw things wrongly, but this occurred frequently enough, and I’m not the only one who experienced this issue. I will try to capture this on video next time. Basically, it seems that the game displayed an incorrect number of stars that does not match the actual strength of the monster. I’ve also once tapped in to fight an 8-star Great Girros and later realised during that hunt that it’s actually a 9-star Great Girros.
It’s a quite random, but I hope the observations above can help the developers identify which sections of the codes may be responsible for these observations.
