操虫棍の場合も

提案/Suggestion

Current Status

I agree that the weapon training quests ought to be altered so that it doesn’t create a wider problem at the initial launch of a new weapon type.

Since the purpose is for training, it shouldn’t end up being a default weapon for new adopters of the weapon, like how Bone Gunlance was (because of how shelling damage is calculated).

If the idea is to introduce players to the new weapon type, why not just restrict it to a separate game mode, such as a private training ground or trial quests where you can use the weapon at the boosted level but not in actual field hunts?

I know this may sound backward, but we all started this way when the game first started or when we were new players ourselves—we had to use a new or unfamiliar weapon type and worked through the story quests and urgent quests ourselves. We fumbled and drank potions, but we learned and became stronger. Nobody else was there to carry us, because we were already the ones in front. There’s nobody else in front of us.

By incentivising the use of a new weapon type to a separate game mode and de-incentivising the use of low-tier weapons in actual field hunts (through natural order of things, such as low-tier weapons don’t have enough power to hunt high-strength monsters), I feel that this will allow players to treat the weapon more seriously and learn it earnestly rather than leech on other players during group hunts. The players who have been waiting for the new weapon to be released will not care about the low-tier weapons anyway and will probably have materials stockpiled to make the high-tier weapons on the launch day of the new weapon type, so this change in weapon training quests would not affect them.

Overall, I feel that this should allow players who already have difficulty in getting group hunts to not worry about having to use a low-tier weapon in group hunts (and end up getting unnecessary backlash in the process) while still allowing everyone to learn how to use the new weapon type at their own pace.

The weapon mastery quest has a very long period, so there is no hurry to complete it in a short time either, and therefore does not need to resort to leeching on other players.

I wonder what your opinion would be for players like myself who did the group hunts with freshly made Horns. I made sure it buffed the right elements, and had earplugs (L). Though its not exactly the same as the Bone Horn parasites, I cannot say for sure that I am contributing much in terms of damage.

I myself did some of the group hunts that way, but I only did so for the unimportant hunts, like for 5-star and below monsters and the easier monsters, like Tobi-Kadachi and Great Jagras.

For important hunts like in Hunt-a-thons, against 8-star monsters, or against limited/rare monsters like Rajang and subspecies monsters of any strength, I would fight properly with my main weapons.

But this is for me as a player who has been playing since day 1 and already have an assorted array of main weapons, and I do not need a hunting horn as my primary weapon, so my motives would be different from other players.

I don’t really care about what weapons people want to use in hunts, but I do care about “bringing the right tool for the right job”. You can bring a newer, lower-grade weapon. I wouldn’t know anyway. But at least match the elemental weakness of the monster when it comes to important fights, and ideally avoid using under-par equipment when it comes to such fights—the latter can become obvious when the hunt drags on seemingly longer than usual, an indicator that someone in the hunt is either not doing their job or using under-par equipment.

I am still seeing raw weapons or even poison weapons in fights against Teostra. Sigh.

Once, I saw a player bringing a Rajang Heavy Bowgun to fight a 9-star monster that’s not weak to thunder. Help, please. :joy:
