Affinity ingame explanation

提案/Suggestion

Would like something ingame that explains what affinity% on weapons mean

現状/Current Status

I have no idea what the affinity% on weapons does ingame and have to search it up to try and find it

Crititcal Rate in other games. MH series term

Affinity is the chance of a physical weapon hit (not explosive attacks and attacks that ignore a monster’s body part damage resistance) to become a critical hit or blunder.

A critical hit is when the crit occurs when affinity is above 0%. The base modifier for critical hits is 125% of whatever damage that hit was supposed to be. This modifier can be boosted by Critical Boost, going up to 150% modifier at level 5. Affinity caps out at 100%, at which point all of your applicable hits will become critical hits. The visual effect of a critical hit is a bright red slash.

A blunder is when the crit occurs when affinity is below 0%. The modifier is always 75% for blunders, which means you deal 25% lesser damage than a regular hit. Nothing improves this. Critical Boost doesn’t apply because it is not a critical hit. Critical Ferocity skill has a fixed 30% chance to boost a blunder to whatever modifier the skill description says (e.g. 250% at level 5, which means your boosted blunder deals 250% damage instead of the expected 75% for a regular blunder). Negative Affinity caps out at -100%, at which point all your hits become blunders. The visual effect of a regular blunder is a purple slash, and that of a boosted blunder due to Critical Ferocity is a dark red slash (opposite of a critical hit’s bright red slash).

Hope this helps.
