@elrathias
Thank you for your report and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.

If your device fully meets the requirements for supported devices , performing the following actions may help mitigate performance issues.:

  • Restart your device
  • Reinstall the app
  • Disable apps running in the background
  • Set the app’s graphics quality to ‘Low’ in the settings
  • Uncheck ‘60 fps While Hunting’ in the settings
  • Download all assets in the settings
  • Update your device’s OS
  • (Android) Update Google Play Store / Google Developer Services
  • Take a break from playing to cool down the device

Performance may also degrade if the device’s battery is deteriorating; replacing the battery can improve this issue. Please consult your device manufacturer’s official website for more details.

For more information on performance improvements, please visit the Google support page.

Thank you for your understanding.

Not helpful, this issue goes way beyond whats described here.

Look at this data:

cpu foreground (förgrund): 14 min 35sec.
Cpu TOTAL: 57 min 11swc.

GPS TRACKING: 1HOUR 16 min 21 sec.

Have updated os since original post, now on Android 14 UKQ1.231207.002 so its not android version dependent.

Something is VERY wrong with how the game handles background processing and adventure sync, its absolutely burning up my phone.

Thank you for your response.

For this one, could you please turn off game turbo and see if it resolves the issue?

Let us know if you continue to experience trouble.

Temperature issue is somehow bound to the server traffic. I have no idea how you guys managed to program that but here we are.

Here’s what I have found during v79:

  • Device heat up when the game is booted up regardless of wherever the actual phone is locked or not
  • Temperature rise occurs during peak hours in a region: just after work, so between 14:00 to 19:00, and during the entire daytime at weekends
  • After those hours, temperature doesn’t skyrocket, despite the game running, even for extended period of time or while doing resource demanding tasks, such as rust puppy fight
  • Device model doesn’t make a difference, I’ve run this test on potato phone, mid range device and iPhone14 Pro with the same results, temperature rise regardless of computive capabilities

This is an actual malware at this point. Or you guys are mining some bitcoin, im not sure. This game actively kills the battery, the screen, the PCBs and make us run around with actual bombs in our pants. I have never in my life seen something like this. My assumption is that to increase the performance the game somehow calculate additional hunters in vicinity, which makes the calculation infinite more complex and I have no idea how you even managed that, but it’s really dangerous and should be fixed yesterday. Like, the fact that your oh so shiny paid event is borderline unplayable aside, someone can get hurt at this point. I’d rather play with bad framerate than held IED in my pocket

Agree on that, no other ap skyrocket the baterry drain and head. But this is a niantic problem, becouse it also apear in pokemon Go (in MHN alot worst)

Game turbo has never been enabled for any game due to me finding it annoying. Settings are low/60fps when hunting, and map always maximum zoomed out

@elrathias
Thanks for your reply and sorry to hear that you are still experiencing the same issue.

The information you have provided has been shared with the development team for further investigation. If there is any additional information we can share on this, we’ll do so on this Forum.

Do feel free to post on the Forum if you’ve noticed anything else.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

V81 issue still very much present. Phone temperatures are still insane even with Mhnow not being the active application

@elrathias
Thanks for your reply and sorry to hear that the issue is still persisting.

Please know that we’ll forward your message again to our team for further investigation. If there is any additional information we can share on this, we’ll do so on this Forum.

Although we do not have an immediate workaround for this as of the moment , you may try the following steps again and see how it goes:

  • Try using another device if you have one
  • Replace the battery in your device
  • Restart your device
  • Reinstall the app
  • Disable apps running in the background
  • Set the app’s graphics quality to ‘Low’ in the settings
  • Uncheck ‘60 fps While Hunting’ in the settings
  • Download all assets in the settings
  • Update your device’s OS
  • (Android) Update Google Play Store / Google Developer Services
  • Take a break from playing to cool down the device

Thank you for your patience and cooperation on this.

@elrathias Can I ask you if apart from this big problem the performances in game (lag in the map and in battle, fps) are good? Because I’m about to buy the same phone as you and I don’t want to waste money on an upgrade and find myself with the same problems I have now.

The phone can handle an entire 8* HAT worth of fights before thermal throttling cuts in and starts to reduce framerate, in direct sunlight on a hot day. Manually close app and let it cool off for a moment and youre good to go again, or just slog through it and get out of the sunlight and you can keep going. Its not a huge problem, amd what we consider uncomfortably warm isnt actually bad for the phone - since the heatsink is attached to the middle of the front display, to increase surface area and limit the effect of using big thick shells its designed that way, and to operate well in tropical climates too.

The problem is that the background heat load and battery usage never subsides once app is closed or shifted away from active ie minimized.

If i were to buy a phone today, id go with a Poco X6 Pro - ita the absolute best bang for the buck (~€300) considering its got the brand new 4nm mtek dimensity 8300 chipset running at insane energy efficiency (architecture aside, smaller transistor size means less energy to open and close, and heat to shunt into the cooling solution, clocking almost 8hrs of gaming in GSM arena benchmarks.

This phone is probably on its last battery legs, mhnow having consumed about 500 charge cycles worth of battery in the last 150 days, but running pokemon go instead of mhnow gives you almost 4.5hrs of playtime in the same ambient conditions as above. However, with screen active 100% of the time instead at a 1:20 ratio active/background that mhnow devours battery and boils the phone in your pocket at.

This screenshot is from July 19th, so on v79.0

Its gotten MILDLY better since the graphical load from hat members change, but its not the active use thats the problem.
