素材の交換、売却、装備の解体/Trading/Selling materials, Dismantling Equipment
There should be have a downgrade system for the upgraded equipment which not to use anymore like other MonHunt series. I’m fine if the outcome only return small amount of material and zeny after downgrade to the begining rarity and level. But it will be useful for those who has accidentally press the upgrade button and who created it just to try the skill. The returned/refunded material and Zeny can be use for other equipment. I really hope this system will be implement someday.

Suggestion
I think it would make sense to have a feature that allows the buying of desired mats for zenny. This could either be added in the existing inventory menu, or perhaps a new “trader tab” of some sort, where a daily (or sub daily) assortment of materials could be bought or sold. This shop could be refreshed manually with a consumable item which players could buy or earn through the pass. I feel this would fit the game well and solve an issue with excess unwanted resources And zenny.
現状/Current Status
I have tons of spare zenny and nothing to spend it on! As of now excess materials are sold for zenny (which is better than the previous solution of simply deleting them). But now this zenny has no real use in the volume you acquire it.
A feature like this would be good, but as someone who has reached grade 4 minimum on every single piece of gear in the game: You can never have too much Zenny.
Strongly disagree on buying mats. It’s an antithesis to MonHun as a whole. The closest I can get behind is smelting and that should be expensive and used only on materials that are hard to come by (shards, zino plates, pickle saliva and so on)
Actually yeah you’re right. What am I saying.
I got so carried away critiquing the “I have too much Zenny” that I forgot to critique the idea itself.
I won’t say that buying things is in general a bad idea. Unless someone is actually starting, there’s thousands upon thousands of zenny just sitting about, which is in fact similar to regular MonHun, at some point you are simply a millionaire. That said, regular games have more options to spend zenny: traps, ammo, potions, meals, augments, what have you. MHNow doesn’t have those systems (yet, I hope), which means apart from upgrading gear cash is simply obsolete.
With this in mind I totally understand the sentiment. You want to spend a resource you have. I’m simply against doing that for mats because for one, as I said, this defeats the purpose of hunting in general, and for the other, shops sell zenny for premium and that’s dangerously close to actual pay to win, I mean someone will at some point but zenny just to gear up
Long story short, more ways to spend cash is a good idea, but spending it in this way isn’t
One alternative suggestion would be a trader (melder?) that allows you to trade a certain amount of materials for an appropriate amount of a different material for the same monster - and this would cost zenny. This way you can only acquire something that you might have otherwise earned from many hunts anyway.
I agree, but I also get the impression that Niantic has been handling Zenny specifically with a lot of experimentation. The first several months of this game were awfully stingy with it. If they review the forums and see a lot of people talking about having too much, they will definitely start cutting back on the income provided - and some of us need everything we can get.
This is a good call, especially given that now a horde of low grade materials could also be worth a quick couple thousand. It puts some level of choice in the hunter’s hand without being unreasonable about it.
This is essentially melding and I have no qualms with it. Even “bumping up” the rarity of the same monster is okay with this setup and I don’t see why it wouldn’t be a good thing
I think for the majority, this is not needed jet. But a money sink should happend at some point.
Me personaly, waiting for crafting (pots, flashbombs ect.) Wich brings an item and zenny sink to the game.
A trade 50=1 or 100=1 for rarer mats would also delay the zenny overload
This would be a much better way of implementing a “zenny sink”, although for those of us perpetually at 0 I’m not sure I like needing to balance Zenny between upgrading (which is already incredibly expensive) and crafting. I would rather crafting use some other catalyst instead. Maybe a “crafting kit voucher” rarely obtainable from gathering? Like the golden tickets during the Lunar New Year event?
It might not be a topic for it per say, but please elaborate on the “perpetually at 0”. This just doesn’t seem right in regards to zenny, which the game basically throws at the player regardless of whatever they do.
Back to the topic at hand, as somewhat of a purist, I don’t mind zenny sink as long as it’s in line with the spirit of the series. As in, I would be more inclined to throw it at hunting necessities (traps, bombs, meals), vanity (poses and backgrounds for guild card, layered armour) or other hunting adjacent activities (safari, palico gear, etc.) that doesn’t necessarily influence gear itself. There’s something iffy about straight up buying certain stuff in a game revolving around hunter-gatherer economy.
All that said, we also need to take into account the fact that the game has been barely released, I’m going to assume that, apart from regular power creep, there are still systems that are in development (or will be, game is after all still in it’s infancy) that can potentially change zenny dynamic, so I would not be jumping the gun with implementing a sink yet, I mean for Gogmazios sake, we are still stuck with 3 biomes, no fishing, no endemic life, no layered weapons, no elders (that will change in a week, rust lizard incoming), no fossils, no eggs, no cooking and no safari. There’s an insane amount of stuff that’s staple in regular series, that isn’t in, and I’m not even taking into account what ideas might be cooked up for this specific entry.
It’s my personal rule that, whenever I can upgrade something, I do upgrade something. For the longest time, up until the advent of part selling and the 30k we got from a recent Qualily event, Zenny was always my biggest gatekeeper. It has been a lot less egregious since then, and now my big gatekeepers are Iron ore and Small bones. But even so, this very moment I still have less than 10k.
Makes sense. I was doing similar thing but ultimately decided, it’s going to be a problem for future me, after I’m done with all weapons golden medal and proper builds
Back to the topic at hand, with gunlance, Kushala, new biome (at least I’m assuming it’s a new biome and not just kush therefore mountains) and whatever the hell building in the background of the new teaser poster, I’m assuming we are getting more ways to spend zenny and sink not be needed for a while
