I want the waiting time at the start to be removed,
or for players to be able to set the number of Dimensional Link spawns to 0 on their end.
Current Status
The waiting time for Dimensional Links (including various Group Hunts) is nothing but frustrating, so even if it’s a monster I want to hunt, I lose the motivation to do so if it’s a Dimensional Link.
Even though it’s a monster that can be hunted solo, you are forced to wait 5 seconds, and if even one person joins, you only have two choices: wait until all 4 players have gathered, or leave and be forced to wait another 5 seconds. It is extremely frustrating.
At this rate, player loyalty will be lost, so I request an improvement.
Thank you.
That’s so true. Even though matchmaking is instant under the current system, there are still plenty of people who don’t hit Ready for over 10 seconds, and once the hunt actually starts, I’ve even had players turn the monster around on me. It’s to the point where I definitely never want to do multiplayer for a ★9 mutated Black Diablos.
I suspect that along with the implementation of accessories, ☆10 will be added to Dimensional Links. For users who aren’t after regular materials, but want to grind out hunts for special materials, it’s a really annoying mechanic. Why should we be forced to carry others? The dev and management team don’t understand at all.
You have not understood my proposal. I am simply offering an opinion with full understanding of the specifications: those who want to play multiplayer can just wait as they always have, while I would rather save real-life time over party rewards. My request is simply whether it could have the same departure system as everything other than Dimensional Link.
True, “you just don’t have to do it” is technically a valid argument, but when an event features increased Dimensional Links, their numbers swell considerably, and the stress is off the charts. Shutting things down with “you just don’t have to do it” for everything doesn’t seem healthy in a place whose very purpose is to share suggestions.
Unfortunately, Dimensional Link itself is a feature designed for multiplayer.
And the 5-second wait was implemented to make multiplayer run smoothly.
I think these 5 seconds are a necessary process for matchmaking.
If matchmaking can’t run smoothly just because someone wants to play solo, that defeats its original purpose.
It’s not that I don’t understand the suggestion itself, but in reality it would be difficult.
You were opposed to it yourself when it was changed two years ago, and have you forgotten that the 5-second wait was changed suddenly one day without any explanation in the first place?
Also, you aren’t part of the dev or operations team, so it’s frustrating when you speculate about system mechanics and the background behind changes. I think complaints about the 5-second wait are still brought up regularly even now because the reason for the change has never been made clear to this day. With the weather getting colder from here on out, I wish they would take players’ health into consideration.
Personally, I haven’t really been for or against it since back then.
However, there were parts of the opposing arguments that I could understand, and I think I felt that it would be fine to have measures allowing players to do it solo.
And since it hasn’t been changed from back then until now, I think it’s a necessary process, but is that strange reasoning on my part?
I don’t really take it seriously when people go around saying the devs are making us wait 5 seconds out of spite, but
As for the 5-second wait, I feel like that came about because of frequent matchmaking issues occurring in Hunt-a-thons, but so much time has passed that, honestly, I don’t remember the details.
Well, so it’s true that we really can’t know what their intentions are.
‘If you don’t like it, don’t play’ is only making the problem worse.
In this game, you have to move around to reach monsters.
Players pay the cost of movement just to be able to fight.
On top of that, being told to choose between unpleasant combat or reducing the monsters you can fight…
If that’s the case, simply choosing not to move at all becomes the most cost-effective option.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind if this suggestion were implemented. In fact, it’d actually help me out, but considering the depopulation of Dimensional Link itself and the decline in quality when looking at the player base as a whole, I don’t think it should be implemented.
I have a few thoughts of my own as well, so maybe I’ll start a separate topic.
If you read my opinion carefully, you’ll see I’m not opposing it.
Well, I’m not in favor of it either, but
Suggestions of this kind have been made countless times, but the specifications were never changed.
In other words, I think it means that for the devs, this specification isn’t something that can be changed.
I’m not talking about what might happen in the future, just how things stand right now.
Yet somehow, it got turned into a discussion of “if you don’t like it, quit,” but
There is an option not to use Dimensional Link, so wouldn’t it be better to just do that?
is what I actually said.
I definitely didn’t say that to mean “if you don’t like it, quit.”
Waiting 5 seconds used to be painful, but now it doesn’t bother me at all (it’s scary how you get used to things…)
Looking at the exchange above, I felt there is a difference in perception and way of thinking.
From the dev team’s perspective, Dimensional Link is a “system prepared for people who can’t do multiplayer hunts in depopulated areas and such,” and being able to go solo is just, “leaving people waiting forever in matchmaking isn’t great, so we made it so you can go solo too”—at least, that’s what I think.
That’s just my own guess as to how the developers see it.
I think MOMO8891 probably sees it that way too.
On the other hand, since the OP operates on the premise that “hunting should be something where you can choose between solo and multiplayer,” I felt they might view Dimensional Link as “a system that forces multiplayer on something that could otherwise be hunted solo.”
…So what I’m basically trying to say is:
Wouldn’t it be better to look at it like, “Since they’re monsters intended for multiplayer hunts, having a wait time can’t be helped. If you get to start solo, consider yourself lucky”? That’s what I was thinking.
Also, regarding the OP’s proposal:
Or I’d like users to be able to set the number of Dimensional Link spawns to 0
I wonder if the intention behind this is:
・ Wanting to be able to replace Dimensional Link spawns with regular spawns
If that’s the case, I think that might be difficult.
Large monsters are managed on the server and are shared among players (presumably).
Therefore, if you try to replace Dimensional Link spawns with regular spawns, you would have to increase the regular spawns by the exact same amount as the Dimensional Links.
If that happens, server spec requirements would go up, and it could also end up increasing data traffic.
That is basically my understanding as well, but since differences do occur depending on the completion status of monster unlock quests and Monster Tracker selections, I thought it might be technically possible.
I felt that adding an option for no Dimensional Links to the Monster Tracker screen would probably have the lowest cost.
