Please separate story Urgent Quest and field difficulty

I suspect this is one of the reasons why this feature is implemented this way.

End of the day, Potions is one of the primary items being sold in this game. Being able to repeat the story quests with a fairly low pressure to use a potion is not contributing meaningfully to business revenue.

Also, not every player will repeat the story for HRP and Season Tier Points, even though it is certainly a method of farming the HRP and Season Tier Points. How many of the active players are doing this is entirely another question.

Perhaps the designers saw that there’s very few players, proportionately, who would repeat the story quests fervently.

Perhaps the designers saw that there’s little reason to let players repeat the story quests “for free”.

Perhaps the reasoning was, “if the players are so good at hunting 10-star monsters on the field, why not just let them hunt 10-star monsters in story quests too?”.

I have seen requests by players asking for higher challenges. Now we have it, but not in the way we expected it, because some of the requests never specify exactly what kind of challenge they want.

Be careful what we wish for

Normally, if you can’t beat an Urgent Quest, having them spawn in the field would just cause trouble anyway, so you wouldn’t expect many complaints, but…

I guess the ones most affected by this are the players who want to grind Tiers but still want to keep 10★ monsters appearing in the field.

Those players spend both time and money, so I don’t see why they had to get the cold shoulder, but I can understand if the priority was lowering field difficulty.

Personally, well, 8★ is plenty for me, and I’m planning to farm charms from Hunt-a-thons anyway, so I don’t really have much to complain about, I guess.

I completely agree with this suggestion.

Until now, I chose “not to hunt” 10★ monsters that I couldn’t defeat or found difficult to beat.
When my Palico brought one back with a Palico Paintball, it was a bit of a shock, but I enjoyed taking them on as a test of skill at the end of the day when I had leftover First-Aid Meds.

Just like before, I’d like the story and the field to be kept separate.

There are comments defending it, but just accepting this change without saying anything will only breed doubts that future feedback might unintentionally make things worse, so if you have an opinion, you should speak up.

Please fix this.

Just like before, please make it so 10-star monsters continue to appear even if the difficulty is lowered.

The development team mentioned on YouTube that there are materials you can only obtain by defeating 10-star monsters, right?

I’m HR 400 and main Long Sword & Dual Blades, and I think I’m someone who spends quite a bit on the game (well over several million yen / ○○○0,000 yen). Long Sword and Dual Blades still have low damage output, making it extremely difficult to defeat 10-star monsters. It consumes an insane amount of Potions.

If 10-star monsters won’t appear on the field map unless you’re on the 10-star story, could you please buff the damage of Long Sword and Dual Blades?

It’s really tough if things stay like this.

Isn’t only being able to change it once every three hours the problem?

I think they should just let us change it whenever we want.

With a 10★ field, there are a lot of 8★ and 9★ monsters, so it’s great for everyday hunting.
Sure, you could just grind Season Tiers elsewhere, but cycling through story quests is easier and doesn’t cost any money.

I haven’t changed the ★, so I’m not sure, but…

Just like when changing the Monster Tracker,
if it’s designed to relocate monsters,
would a cooldown be necessary, I wonder?

If they don’t relocate, a cooldown wouldn’t be needed, right?

I don’t have any particular preference, but since I haven’t reached HR 400 yet, the points from clearing quests are really helpful

Taking down 10-stars takes quite a bit of time, so for Urgent Quests, I tend to keep them at 8-star so I can beat them in a few seconds :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

I wonder if they get repositioned because the star count changes?

If that’s the case, it might be difficult :sweat_droplets:

I think the change is fine. We never had the ability to lower map difficulty and before we had to be careful not to complete the story quest and accidentally increase the map difficulty. This makes farming T6 materials much easier for mid rank hunters (150 - 230). If I want to try for WS’s I can simply increase the difficulty

Even if it’s not that I can’t do the 10★ story, it’s definitely pretty exhausting, but purely having something I could do up until now become undoable is insanely frustrating.
I want 10★ to appear in the field, but I was doing Urgents at 9★, so it’s really stressful.
What’s even worse is that there was no announcement before release about the spec where the field and Urgents go down together—they totally did that on purpose, didn’t they?
This is at the level where I really want them to fix it ASAP with an emergency patch.

If you can’t beat them, just lower the ★.
If you want to beat ★10, just raise the ★.
It’s just that you can’t change it again for 3 hours after changing it,
In the first place, being able to lower the ★ is a relief measure for people who can’t beat the story, so it can’t really be helped, right?

They haven’t even implemented story skips, so maybe the devs didn’t anticipate people looping the story?

On the field, having 10★ show up is fine because you can just choose to fight the ones you can beat, but in the story, getting stuck on an unbeatable 10★ is a real problem.

It’d be nice if there was a (paid) feature to reset the cooldowns for monster investigations and level changes, just like tracker refills.

Because field monster difficulty is all over the place,
having to raise field monster difficulty to hunt ★8 and ★9 efficiently—
shouldn’t that have been seen as an issue in the first place?

To hunt lots of 8★ and 9★ monsters, a field where 10★ monsters spawn is the most efficient.

There were even videos analyzing that clearing the story to unlock a 10★ field is more efficient even for players who can’t beat 10★ monsters, because it increases the number of 8★ hunts.

Recently, there’s also 貴竜石, so there are probably plenty of people who keep their field at 10★ not to hunt 10★ monsters, but to spawn lots of 9★ to hunt instead.

I’m not particularly strong myself, so I’m that type of player.

I can reliably beat weaker 10★ monsters, but for example last season I didn’t want to hunt things like 10★ Stygian Zinogre,

so thinking about having to go out of my way to lower the difficulty before going to bed or during times when I won’t be hunting for a while feels like a hassle.

Considering decorations will also drop, people will likely focus on hunting weaker 10★ monsters, making it all the more inconvenient.

Aren’t the only players unbothered by this the ones who have thoroughly min-maxed their driftsmelting and can easily defeat 10★ monsters?

Plus, at a time when they’re talking about supporting beginners and returning players, this direction feels contradictory.

It’s probably because of this, but hardly any ★10s are coming in from friends anymore.

There’s still time so I think it’ll be fine, but the ★10 slaying quest looks like it’ll be a struggle…

I really wish they had kept Urgent Quests and field spawns separate… Or maybe let us choose the difficulty separately on the hunt prep screen for Urgent Quests. I want to clear a playthrough of the story, so I always enjoyed playing at 8★, but having 5★s spawn on the field when you set it to 8★ isn’t really great.
