Melee/range matchmaking improvements

Consider Hunt a thons with one or two melee players to one ranged player.

現状/Current Status

With critical range boost allowing ranged users to shoot farther than ever. It becomes a hassle for a single melee player to keep up with the chase just to attack the monster. The monster will ping pong from one side of the map to the other and then back to the other range user. Not all melee weapons have mechanics to help propel them across the map

Critical Range Boost does not allow ranged user to shoot from further.

It’s Ballistics.

But Ballistics works by allowing hunters to shoot closer as well for Pierce ammo, not just further away, so it is dependent on how the hunter is using it.

Ballistics does nothing for ammo types like Sticky, Slicing, and Cluster.

It is also dependent on those ranged players being considerate and cognizant on how their actions can affect the flow of a hunt. No amount of game design can compensate ignorance or inconsideration without making things generally worse for everyone else who are playing properly.

The issue never really occured until I matched up three times in a row with ranged players who all were playing it safe trying to not get his. So the monster was traversing in a triangle trying to get to all of them. One melee with three ranged was not fun

Yeah, it’s not fun when that happens. If you have a choice, try to relobby instead. At least can save you the effort and the risk of getting hit while sliding towards the monster and it decides to aim you while you’re sliding.
