Steps
- Restart the game after 0100 UTC and before 0200 UTC (my local time is 0900hrs and 1000hrs, UTC+8).
- Proceed to select a Rathian Bow that already has Dodgebolt Style unlocked on 7 Oct (the accidental early release of Bow styles before the official release).
- Go to the Style Customisation screen for this Rathian Bow.
- Tap on the “Select Style” upgrade to go to the Select Style screen.
- Tap “Remove Style” and proceed to remove the current Dodgebolt style.
- Tap on “Power Volley” style to select it.
- Tap “OK”.
- Observe that the game asks if you want to “Switch to this style?”. It does not mention any costs related to the switching to a locked style (which is Power Volley in this case).
- Tap “OK”.
- Observe that materials are consumed when “switching” to the Power Volley style.
- Tap “Dodgebolt” style.
- Tap “OK”.
- Observe that nothing happens.
- Tap “Remove Style” and proceed to remove the current Power Volley style.
- After removing the style, try to select any of the two styles to switch to.
- Observe that the “OK” button does nothing and I cannot use the new styles.
- Restart the game.
- Observe that both styles are now selectable for the Rathian Bow and operation becomes normal again.
- Checking the style customisation for other applicable weapons shows that the UI flow for unlocking the style has changed, but it wasn’t reflected in my game at Step 8 despite having restarted the game between 0100 UTC and 0200 UTC.
Main Problem:
- The game failed to operate correctly despite restarting the game after the announcement of the changes to the unlocking of the weapon styles after 0100 UTC.
- The game failed to inform user that material costs are involved when choosing a locked style, and makes it worse by treating as if no costs were involved because of the wording used, causing an unexpected loss of materials due to unintended operation.
Expected
- Please lock the Power Volley style of my Rathian bow back and refund me my 4 Rathian Riftscales and 6 Wyvern Scarcestones. I never wanted to unlock the Power Volley style for Rathian Bow.

See attached video as proof of the game being in an incorrect state of UI flow despite restarting the game between 0100 UTC and 0200 UTC. You can check my login logs to see that I have indeed restarted the game at least once after 0100 UTC, and what I experienced is not because I did not restart the game after 0100 UTC.
In the video, it shows as if I do not have both styles unlocked when I in fact already have (due to the above problem). The time was already 1028 UTC +8 (which is 0228 UTC). This made me unable to use the styles until I restarted the app yet again to see the correct UI flow. This shows that the game was not in the correct UI flow as expected of it, and materials were lost due to the game being in an incorrect state when it should have been correct after the first restart (i.e. it’s the game’s problem, not the user’s problem). I didn’t record the issue when it happened because I wasn’t expecting it to be a problem after the first restart. I can only record the aftermath.
The Letter from Dev Team also did not mention that one must restart their app for the correct UI flow to be presented in the game, which means that I shouldn’t have needed to restart the game to see the update, and yet the game was in a defective state even though I heeded caution and restarted the game after reading the letter from dev team before trying out the changes to the style customisation feature.
I do not know if this affects other weapons or players because the UI looks correct now.
