Are there monsters that are more likely to drop more gems than others? For example, I feel like Rodabaan would have a higher chance of dropping a wyvern gem because so many parts can be broken.
Hi,
No. Radobaan only has 1 body part that could reward the WGS in the Broken Part Rewards, which is the Head.
Some monsters have twin parts that can drop the WGS, such as Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, Legiana (wings), both Diablos (both horns), and Banbaro (both horns). The rest of the monsters only have 1 body part that can drop the WGS.
If you were misled by the misinformation that “break more body parts = higher chance of dropping R6”, that’s too simple a statement without understanding the actual context behind that statement.
The Basic Rewards can drop everything, but each reward slot has been observed to have slightly different drop rates, with the 1st slot being observed to have the highest occurrence of R2+ drops compared to the other 3 basic reward slots.
Broken Part Rewards is directly associated with the monster’s body part that you broke during the hunt. Each body part has its own drop table, and they generally offer slightly better rates for the R2+ materials than the Basic Reward slots.
Hunt-a-thon extra reward is considered a Basic Reward slot because it can drop any of the monster’s material, including R6, but will never drop R1s. I don’t have statistics for this slot.
Group Hunt Reward is basically another Basic Reward slot, but so far this slot seems to have better drop rates for the R2+ materials. I don’t have statistics for this slot.
So, in a way, breaking the target body parts will offer you more chances at the desired materials PER HUNT. For example, if you broke Tzitzi’s head twice in a Hunt-a-thon as a Group, you basically get 4 Basic Rewards + 1 HAT Reward + 2 Broken Part Rewards + 1 Group Hunt Reward = 8 chances at R6, compared to you simply solo and kill a field Tzitzi without breaking the head, which is only 4 chances from the 4 Basic Rewards.
It does not mean that breaking body parts will modify the drop rates of other slots.
Hope this helps.
Wonderful explanation, thanks.
