I have Prime Hunter Pass (PHP), which is supposed to give 2 more Palico Paintballs and +2 Paintball List capacity.
Today, I bought the Extreme Hunter Pass (EHP), which is supposed to give 3 more Palico Paintballs and +20 Paintball List capacity.
Since both passes are active, I was expecting that I would get a total of +5 Palico Paintballs for a total of 8 Palico Paintballs a day and 30 Paintball List capacity.
I now have 30 Paintball List capacity (expected), but only 6 Palico Paintballs (expecting 8). I bought the EHP before I used any Palico Paintballs today, so I had 5 Palico Paintballs before I bought the EHP. After buying the EHP, I got only 6. The marked 8★ Volvidon is after I have bought the EHP.

Same issue, only got 6 but was expecting 8. Meanwhile people who used their first 5 and then bought the pass got 6 for a total of 11, essentially shortchanging the rest of us of 5 blue palico balls.
This way of coding the paintball refresh worked well enough for when there was just the PHP. Now there are two passes which are stackable, so they shouldn’t use the same coding for the refresh of the paintballs anymore.
I’m not sure if it’s fair to always refresh to the maximum possible when one purchases the pass, but to make it scalable to accommodate for future changes to mechanisms that confer additional Palico Paintballs, they should just make it “add X number of Palico Paintballs conferred by the purchase” when purchasing a pass and not “refresh the number of Palico Paintballs according to the additional paintballs conferred by the purchase”.
@Stampeder
Thank you for your report regarding Extreme Hunter Pass.
We’ve checked this with our development team and confirmed that it is intended that you only receive up to 6 Palico Paintballs when purchasing Extreme Hunter Pass while having a Prime Hunter Pass. Please know that you will receive up to 8 Palico Paintballs from the next day.
*If you purchase Prime Hunter Pass while having Extreme Hunter Pass you will only receive up to 5 Palico Paintballs (You will receive none if you have over 5)
If you have any other concerns, please feel free to contact us anytime.
Thank you for your understanding.
If you purchase Extreme Hunter Pass after receiving your daily Palico Paintballs, the paintballs will add up to 6. However, there might be a chance you purchased the pass in the Web Store before receiving your daily paintballs. Therefore, you received 8 Palico Paintballs as a daily bonus.
Please let us know if this is not the case.
Thank you for your understanding.
Hello, the announcement clearly stated that purchasing both pass together would give 8 Palico Paintballs. However, on the first day, I only received 6 Palico Paintballs, and there was no mention of this. This is obviously a mistake, right?
Apparently it’s just how the palico paintballs will get “reset” according to the [base + additional] when you purchase a pass. To put it in a formula, [D + X] = Y, where X is the additional paintball conferred by the pass you just purchased and D is the default number of palico paintballs without considering for passes (which is 3).
When you buy the PHP, your palico paintballs will reset to [3 + 2] = 5.
When you buy the EHP, your palico paintballs will reset to [3 + 3] = 6.
Additional rule: If you have more palico paintballs remaining than what the new amount will be, your remaining palico paintballs will not change.
For example, if you have EHP active and still have 6 palico paintballs remaining at that point, if you buy the PHP, you will not get reset to 5. You will not get +2, either, because the algorithm is not “add X paintballs”—it is “reset to Y paintballs if you have fewer remaining paintballs than Y”.
So, if you play the cards right, you can get:
3 Palico Paintballs, expend all of them, then
Buy PHP, reset to 5, expend all of them, then
Buy EHP, reset to 6, expend all of them.
… and you’ll get 3 + 5 + 6 = 14 Palico Paintballs on the day you purchase both passes.
The next day, it will calculate the total X number of additional Palico Paintballs you should have based on active Passes and give you that new total, which PHP + EHP = 5 and therefore 8 Palico Paintballs the next day after the day you purchased the Pass.
It’s a strange way of doing things… especially with the “free reset” of the default paintballs. We just have to play the cards by the rules.
This scenario appears unlikely, because the user made the purchase after 9am local time. User appears to be in Taiwan, which is UTC+8.
Palico Paintballs are refreshed at 5am local time, so the user would have already received the Palico Paintballs for the day before the pass was available for purchase, even if the user has not logged in to the game because the Palico Paintballs will get utilised immediately and automatically if there was an eligible monster for marking at 5am (this has happened to me a few times, so I know we do not actually need to “receive” the palico paintballs manually by logging in).
