Regarding the skill Litheness, I saw a video on reddit that demonstrates that the skill doesn’t work the same way as describe in the English description: Reddit - The heart of the internet
The English description says:
After evading, the next time damage is received, it is reduced by 20/25/30% (up to 3 times per hunt)
Based on the English text, I interpreted it as (for level 1 skill):
- Evade and gain a buff that grants 20% damage resistance
- If I get hit, it reduces the damage by 20% and I lose the buff.
- In the whole hunt, I can only get this buff 3 times (means that I can reduce 20% damage from maximum 3 separate hits from the monster).
But in the Japanese text and Traditional Chinese text, they both say about the same thing:
JA: 回避を行うたび、次に受けるダメージの軽減率20/25/30%ずつ増加する(最大3回発動)
TC: 每次迴避後,下次受到傷害時的傷害減少率增加20%(最多發動3次)
Based on my understanding of the JA and TC wording and looking at the video on reddit, I understood it as (based on level 1 skill effects):
- Evade and gain a buff that grants 20% damage resistance.
- I can stack the buff up to 3 times (for a total of 60% damage resistance).
- If I get hit, it reduces the damage by 20-60%, depending on the number of stacks of the buff I have (1 per evade), and then I’ll lost the buff.
- I can repeat this process endlessly since there’s no mention of limits within the hunt.
I used ChatGPT to interpret the 3 translations and this is its response:
Based on the reddit post, this strongly suggests that the English skill description of the Litheness skill is incorrect AND misleading.
All along I thought this skill was quite useless as it can only be activated thrice a hunt and I never looked at it as a mere optional skill that happened to be in my build because I needed the other skills that came along with the equipment, but I have also wondered why I take much lesser damage than expected but never investigated it, until I saw the reddit post about it.
Please advise.
