Dear Niantic & Monster Hunter Now Team,
My name is Ashiyan. I live in Kediri-East Java Indonesia. I very proud being player of Monster Hunter Now since its release back in 2023.
I and my friends are dedicated local players writing to express significant concerns regarding the severe lack of local player connectivity and the effectiveness of the Campfire application as the sole communication bridge.
Our community is struggling immensely to connect and organize local meetups due to critical friction points in the system. For context, my town isn’t a big town like Jakarta, etc
The Community’s Daily Struggle (A Call for Visibility)
Currently, our only method to organize local groups is a highly inefficient, manual, and often discouraging process:
• We have to physically travel across our city, navigating scattered and randomly placed in-game bases (often in highly inconvenient locations like busy intersections or construction zones). We even make missing list player from our town (file attached)
• We manually note down new player names seen at these bases.
• We then search for and send individual messages via Campfire (sometime we miss & send chat to a completely different/wrong person).
This effort is proving to be largely futile, resulting in a near-zero success rate. The commitment and effort our players put in to simply find a partner to play with is immense, yet it is rarely rewarded by the current system.
Critical Pain Points
The primary reasons for this communication breakdown are:
• Invisible Outreach: Many players either do not have the Campfire application installed or, more commonly, install it but remain completely unaware that they have received a chat message, as there is no noticeable in-game notification or alert. Our messages are simply going unread in an unchecked inbox.
• Disconnected Experience: The requirement to switch applications completely breaks the flow of the game and introduces too much “friction” for casual players to engage.
Proposed Solutions (Request for Minimal Viable Feature)
We urge you to implement features that will dramatically improve player awareness and reduce the friction of connection:
-
IMMEDIATE NEED: Enhanced In-Game Notification for Campfire Messages.
• If Campfire is intended to be the mandatory communication tool, there must be a clear link back to the main game. Please introduce a prominent and persistent visual indicator (e.g., a flashing icon, a red dot notification) directly on the main in-game screen whenever a player receives a Campfire message from a nearby local player. This is the bare minimum required for players to realize they are being contacted. -
Localized “Signal” Feature
• Consider adding a simple in-game action (e.g., a “Send Signal” button) that a player can activate when near a base. This action should send a short, disruptive notification pop-up to nearby players (who have Campfire installed) with a simple message like: “A nearby player is trying to connect with you!”
We are passionate about this game and want to see our local communities thrive. We hope you understand the enormous struggle we face and will prioritize adding features that make communication visible and effective. We also would say thank you for this amazing game. We also want to say Thank you for your hardwork for this amazing game.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
The Dedicated Players,
Ashiyan from MHNow-Hunters Kediri (Indonesia)
