I now understand that since I started the season quest, all monsters upgraded to level 5 & 6. And because of that, there are barely any large monsters I can beat anymore (only level 3 and occasionally level 4). Is there a way to abort the season quest and go back to beatable monsters? (already got the advise to upgrade weapons armor to level 6/7 but that will take months: currently armor level 2 3 4 4 3 and weapon level 5 and 6 (no element bonus) and level 4 or lower with elemental bonus
No, you cannot reverse your field unlock progression.
Not all monsters will be upgraded to the highest difficulty.
The monster strength distribution is about:
- Highest unlocked: Very low
- Highest -1: Low
- Highest -2: High
- Highest -3: High
- Highest -4: Low
- Highest -5 and below: Very low
At 6-star, you should still see mostly -2 (4-star) and -3 (3-star) monsters. The spawn distribution is considered throughout the world, so don’t expect the same distribution in every single grid—it doesn’t work that way. If a grid doesn’t have what you want, move to the next grid.
Since you can beat the Pre-Season Story, this means that you are at least effective against the Pre-Season Monsters up to 5-stars. You can focus your hunts on these monsters while you build up your equipment further.
For those that you cannot kill, just leave them be. You don’t need to hunt every single monster in sight.
As for your equipment, you might want to research on how to make your build more effective so that you can augment your weapon’s power further. Look at the skill composition rather than “endgame” builds, because right now your immediate concern is mid-game, not endgame. You can plan for the endgame, but you have to get through your mid-game first.
Additionally, practise more with your weapon and discover new ways that will improve your damage output (e.g. learn and understand that the monster’s attack won’t hit you and therefore you can stand your ground and attack instead of keep evading unnecessarily).
As you get to higher monster strengths, you will be gated by your equipment strength, your build (skill composition), and your playing skills and strategy, all of which takes time and practice to attain, especially the playing skills and strategy part. There are resources available to help in all these areas, but the skills/strategy part is one that you must experience it yourself and put hours into it to get that efficiency you seek.
