I need some help, please. I became level 41 today and finished the first tutorial, now in the second one. But all monsters now have upgrade to Level 6 (1 purple star??) and i only see level four or five monsters and i can barely beat these monsters, so after 1 large monster i am down to zero potions. How can i fix this, what should i do? Playing now has lost its fun…
※I used Google Translate for the text.
I recommend starting by raising your weapons and armor to grade 6-7.
It is best to ignore rank 6 monsters and hunt rank 5 monsters.
(This also applies to rank 8 (purple star 3) monsters)
If you can raise it to grade 6 or 7, try fighting the weaker rank 6 monsters…
I’m sure you’ll be able to hunt it easily.
*Also, if you are struggling against rank 6 monsters at a level where you can use up emergency medicine, I recommend you to skip this.
Thanx, it is probably good advice, but this means that I can hardly play anymore as I only see large monsters with four stars or higher. Already made the urgent missions easier (and was just able to get it with my dying breath), but even the four star monsters are barely doable. Also die a lot during group events, which makes me ashamed as I do not participate a lot but do get the reward. Feel like I am profiteering…
My suggestion’s find a high grade monsters that can get hunts with player across the world, so you can beat them easily, after that use double the material you got, so you can make or upgrade your weapon and armour faster
Most of us, if not everyone, went through the same experience as you.
Key points to work on to improve your chances are:
1) Focus on the equipment that allowed you to succeed in the past hunts for the same monster. Monster HP increases by nearly 2x for every star higher than the previous star. For example, a 5-star Great Jagras has about 6.5k HP while a 6-star Great Jagras has about 10.5k HP. Assuming that you took 60 seconds to slay a 5-star Great Jagras, you would need nearly twice the attack power to defeat a 6-star Great Jagras. If you have a set of equipment that has proven to work very well, continue to improve them, or consider swapping to another weapon or another build that can boost your performance even more. All of us who played since the start of the game has to change our equipment several times as new and stronger equipment become available. If going for a better piece of equipment is not possible to you, then reach for the next lower-hanging fruit first. It’s great to plan for the end-game, but end-game builds won’t help you now, and you need the performance now. Take things one step at a time. At the minimum, expect to always upgrade your equipment to be of the same grade or at least up to (x-1).5 of the star level of the monsters you’re hunting. For example, if you want to hunt 6-star monsters, your weapons should be at least grade 5.5, if not higher, especially if those monsters are unlocked later in the story (you can use the monsters’ order of appearance in the story as a gauge of their general difficulty). For example, against Great Jagras, an x.1 weapon is often good enough, while a Rathalos or Rajang would typically expect you to use an (x-1).5 or higher grade weapon to hunt successfully. This is assuming you don’t have the basic elemental attack 5 builds. If you have Elemental Attack 5 in your builds and your weapon is at the same major Grade as the strength of the monster, your equipment should be sufficient.
2) Improve your strategy. If you have watched the videos of players hunting high-star monsters, you’ll realise that they are attacking the monster’s weak spots pretty much ALL the time or doing something that helps them deal good damage to the monster. They don’t spend time evading needlessly or getting hit and rolling on the ground. If you find yourself evading unnecessarily, or not hitting the weak spots most, if not all, of the time, then that means you have room for improvement in your strategy and execution.
3) Focus on the game. I’m not sure how you play, but some players play and walk at the same time. This distracts them from really learning the game in keen details and puts themselves at danger of tripping or road hazards in real life. As per the game’s warnings, please stop and be in a safe environment before you start a hunt, and when you hunt, focus on observing the monster and your equipment’s quirks. It takes time and attention to learn anything, and so is this game.
Improve your equipment and squeeze the performance out of it. That way, you can even use sub-par weapons and hunt successfully.
Feel free to attach videos of your hunts so that we can observe where you can improve.
Last but not least, you don’t have to hunt everything. Just hunt the ones you can. I’m at 10-star since Dec 2023 and I only recently unlocked the gold medal for hunting 100 10-star monsters. Key thing is to allow yourself to hunt for the whole day, not hunt everything in sight. You’ll gain more than what you skip in the long run.
