Currently, it is not possible to revisit the Pre-Season Story and there is no training dummy.

Instead of a training dummy that doesn’t behave like the actual large monsters, why not allow us to revisit the Pre-Season Story so that we can get a chance to practise new weapons against familiar monsters?

General Idea:

  1. The Abridged Version of Pre-Season Story is only available to players who have completed the Current Season Story.
    1a. This means only players who have unlocked 7-star and above can peruse this option (completed the 6-star Season Story).
    1b. The player must also have completed the current Season Story regardless of their Urgent Quest difficulty level. This is for players who have entered a new season. This ensures that the player has completed the current Season Story (main objective) before sidetracking to other quests.

  2. The abridged version of the Pre-Season Story contains just Urgent Quests at the difficulty level they have access to. For example, if they have unlocked 8-star hunts, they can run the Pre-Season Story at 6, 7, or 8-star.

  3. Hunters can attempt the abridged version of the Pre-Season Story any number of times, but all Urgent Quests do not cost the hunter any HP if they took damage or fainted and do not reward anything. During the Urgent Quest hunts, hunters do not have access to their recovery items, but they always start the hunt at 100% HP. If they fainted in the hunt, they can simply exit and then restart the hunt freely.

  4. Hunters can only progress to the next Urgent Quest by completing the current Urgent Quest.

  5. Hunters cannot exit the Abridged version of the Pre-Season Story manually. They have to complete all the hunts in order to exit the Abridged Pre-Season Story and return to their usual Season Story, resuming at the point they entered the Abridged Pre-Season Story. The story progress for the Season Story is preserved perfectly, so that players cannot abuse the mechanism by completing the hunt for the Season Story, don’t claim the quest reward, enter the Abridged Pre-Season Story, complete the Abridged Pre-Season Story, then repeat the Urgent Quest hunt in the Season Story for another attempt at slaying the Urgent Quest monster.

Addendum:

  • Perhaps give an option to start these “mental hunts” with no SP gauge or with full SP gauge. The SP Gauge will be unaffected by food items and is separate from the actual SP Gauge.
  • Actual combat conditions are the same as the usual hunts. The only thing that are different from the usual Urgent Quests are what happens before and after the hunt.
  • As these are mental hunts, they do not contribute towards achievements, medals, and quests.
  • Not sure if this is feasible, but perhaps can also consider conferring some kind of permanent bonus to the hunter if they have completed all mental hunts with a weapon type, and the bonus will be unique to that weapon type. For example, if a hunter completed all mental hunts with dual blades, they get +10% lower stamina drain when in Demon Mode. If a hunter completed all mental hunts with the bow, they get +5% charging speed. Maybe something to consider for end-game bonuses, something to be kept in view and implemented in the later stage of the game’s lifespan.
