Free loader get free rewards without contributing
It’s not even 7 hours of the introduction of a new feature that’s supposed to last a week per unit of activity, and you’re already asking to kick people out without understanding why they might not be able to contribute to the newly introduced activity?
Hi @sandscorpio.
We appreciate your feedback on the new Friend Quest feature.
In the meantime, players who are not able to contribute will not receive any reward. When the quest is finished, they will see a message saying “You did not contribute to this round of the Friend Quest, so you will not receive any rewards”.
For more information, please read our Friend Quest FAQ.
Thank you!
Hi @NianticModDE, does that mean even just 1 count towards a 300-unit quest is also counted as having contributed and therefore will get the full quest rewards?
I mean… yeah it is not cool if some one is getting carried through a quest. BUT I really don’t get why you are complaining about a weekly quest, from a new feature that came out today (a few hours ago). I mean, you can always end the friendship with that hunter for future quests, but in my opinion you are acting a bit overdramatic.
Edit: and another thing for your quest in particular is, that a lot of hunters only can acces group hunts via the huntathons. Which means in a perfect world 5 kills every 3 hours. Sometimes maybe only 5 a day. Don’t be too harsh, I mean it is a „hard“ quest afterall
@Stampeder he instantly join without asking after the quest was created and occupied the slot that our friend cannot join. Did he give chance to ask whether our friend wanna join before joining? Please don’t judge a book by its cover. Thanks
Because he join instantly, my friends and I coordinated to play together
Did you ask him if he is able to contribute later, just not now? How is he a “free loader” if you do not know anything else about him? How are you not also judging the book by its cover?
I can understand the frustration, and I am with you on this in this case, now that you’ve provided more backstory than the initial post.
In this case, the core issue is that there’s no way to limit the friend quests to just a select few people. The current implementation is that as long as someone is in a Friend Quest, all friends of that player can see that this “friend” has joined that quest and thus can join that quest too, even if that person is not a friend of yours.
Let’s focus the issue on this aspect of this feature, not whether the player is as hardworking as you and your friends or not.
I would MAYBE understand this complaint if it was about collecting materials. But its about group hunting. But as zuloh said, most of us have to depend on HaTs/intercepts for coop. Pair it with daily job and you have someone who will, most likely, be able to do 10 group hunts per day at most. And you want to punish him, cause he has the audacity of having less time to play? Chill out man
We all have work to do, to be fair and square, he can join instantly and freely but cannot contribute. He also ruined the fun to play with our friends. It is not punish. It is not fair for us. Why don’t think from our perspective as well? Our friends are all adult who only play during our breaktime too.
Hello, @Stampeder!
Yes, the current reward system for friend quests will grant a player with full quest rewards as long as they were able to contribute.
Hope that answers your question!
Hi, @sandscorpio!
We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with the community and with us.
We are actively collecting user feedback and looking for ways to improve the new friend quest feature.
While we cannot make any immediate changes, rest assured that we will be passing your feedback along to our team for consideration.
Hi @NianticModDE you may consider adding “invite” or “request to join” feature, for reference, you may take a look at Mousehunt game. This is to ensure random friend will not join and ruin the enjoyment of friend quest. Thank you.
I have the other side to this here. I have a friend group that sometimes isn’t able to get out very much and we’ll all wish to help each other with these rewards. Come to find out that if someone can not contribute at all, they don’t get any rewards for that round and only the first round gives out the good rewards. This is unfair to our team that may have sick members or can not contribute because they can’t meet the correct condition (spawning in a swamp location when we need to fight desert monsters) the other team mates finish fast and that person gets left out of the rewards.
This entire thing could be avoided if it uses the system Pikmin Bloom has for their weekly challenges. Let us invite members to lock in who we’d like to play with. Let us leave a group and rejoin another if we have qualms playing with the people we have on the team. And let the other members carry a down an and out friend for a particular week if they so choose to. The current system is very un-fun.
The fact that if you even contribute 1 point towards the goal you still get full rewards doesn’t even crack down on the fact that people will freeload by doing that, so why even punish at all? The way it is now if we want our friends(who we trust to play with us, but might be sick etc) get the rewards we’d have to slow down playing so everyone gets the chance to contribute, and I really don’t think the game wants to SLOW people from playing?
Hey, sorry to Necro this but I figured I could offer a tip to avoid this in the future. If you are playing with a friend group and this person is routinely an issue just make sure you and your friends remove them from your friend lists. Problem solved right?
The problem would still persist if that “friend” happened to also be friends with other friends in your list, depending on how and where you source for these “friends” (e.g. mass invite on social channels)
