About the implementation of the play-while-traveling-by-rail feature

Suggestion

It’s easy to predict that the number of troublesome passengers who keep riding the loop line indefinitely will increase.

Could you please implement this feature cautiously, such as by setting a limit on the daily usage time?

You can just use a free pass or a one-day ticket.

I suspect that’s what they’re worried about — that some players won’t do it.

Since the railway has its own rules, it should be fine to just leave it to them.
If you pay, it’s none of anyone’s business how many laps you go around, but
if you don’t pay, it’s fare evasion, so you could get caught or whatever.

By the way, since this is also possible on the roads running along the railway tracks, there will definitely be people who do it by car.

It’s a measure meant to let users enjoy the game by trusting each person’s sense of morality, so isn’t that perfectly fine?

It wouldn’t be like saying, “Selling knives on the street is wrong because they could be misused.”

That kind of logic doesn’t hold up.

I doubt there are even any players like that. The through-field is all over the place, so the chances of encountering the monster you’re actually aiming for have dropped dramatically. With gathering, you can’t even tell whether what you find is something you want. Communication errors happen easily too. The only real advantage is the Gathering Frequent perk or something like that.

The time efficiency is just way too bad.

Are you getting rid of all location-based features on the grounds that you expect more of those super annoying players who barge into other people’s turf?

It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the tracks. It was a coincidence, but I was able to do it in a car as well, using a consistent acceleration, driving pattern, principle, and straight-line movement.

It has actually become a problem serious enough to make the news. Hopefully that won’t happen this time.
If it were like now, with the access range expanded by 1.5x throughout and the target monsters being picked up for you, I would be up for it. There are also spots near the station. However, that’s only if it doesn’t turn into a nuisance. Unfortunately, in my area, passes aren’t cheap like the Yamanote Line, so even if it were legal, I wouldn’t want to do it.

I’m sorry, but when quoting, please include the full sentence up to the period rather than cutting off at a comma.

Otherwise, the meaning I’m trying to convey changes.

I thought GPS was only unlocked near the railway tracks.

I have to say something about this update, piggybacking on the topic.

I’m honestly not a fan of this update, which lets you play while riding the train or other forms of public transit.

I guess you could call it more convenient, but I always thought Monster Hunter Now was a game where you walk around, find monsters yourself, and hunt them.

With this change, if you want to play efficiently, taking the train beats walking, which is disappointing. If hunting while riding the train one after another is more efficient, it makes playing on foot feel like a loss.

I don’t think it’s as simple as “if you don’t like it, just don’t play on the train.” Once there’s an efficiency gap, you can’t help but be aware of it, and the way you play the whole game changes.

I understand that some people want to play while commuting, and I get the intention behind making it easier to play. But I feel something is off when a “game where you walk, search, and hunt” turns into a “game where you just grind it out while riding the train.”

I’m not saying the feature that lets you play during high-speed movement should be completely removed. But at the very least, I’d like the system to reward playing on foot.

I just hope that in prioritizing convenience, we don’t lose what makes Monster Hunter Now uniquely fun.

Sorry for the long post…

It would be nice if walking had some benefits of its own.

For example, a bonus to Transmute distance when moving below a certain speed?

I thought you couldn’t transmute while traveling by train?

It means that the distance isn’t counted.

Is train hunting really that efficient?
I think I could do it for an hour, but after that I’d probably get bored and fall asleep.
Is everyone else really that fired up about it?

On my days off, I just go to Daigo every three hours and take a quick walk around the neighborhood. That’s plenty for me.

I don’t do train hunting outside of my commute.

I’ve been prioritizing gathering points over hunting.

It’s a relief to be able to reach gathering points that I could only look at from afar before.

Damn, whatever, it’s a completely pointless topic. I don’t even know if it’s fair to think of it in terms of gains or losses. I only walk, so this update doesn’t affect me.

It’s still better than playing with location spoofing. There are weird players at my base too. Some of them aren’t just day-tripping to Okinawa — they’re coming back from the US (lol).

I’m only really happy when the monster density goes up.

That said, since my hunts tend to run long, even when I have several monsters I want to hunt, they end up wandering off far away and disappearing while I’m still dealing with one.

Saying you’re opposed just because you don’t like other people becoming more efficient is a bit childish, I think

By the way, I work from home 80% of the time, but I’m in favor. I take the train for long-distance commutes once a month, so I’m already looking forward to it.
