The poison tick damage is also strange.
The poison tick damage for Great Girros is expected to be 1.2% of its solo hunt HP per tick. This damage is consistent regardless of the number of players in the hunt.
The observed poison tick damage against a Riftcharged Great Girros is 3841.
This means the solo HP for Riftcharged Great Girros is 3841 / 0.012 ~= 320,080.
The 3pax Blast damage is about 10.5% of solo HP.
The 4pax Blast damage is about 13.0% of solo HP.
This will result in roughly 5% of the scaled HP when hunting a monster in a group for hunts where the monster’s HP would scale with the group size (e.g. Field Hunts and Base Defense hunts).
The 3pax Blast damage is observed to be 30,415.
The 4pax Blast damage is observed to be 38,419.
This results in an estimated solo HP of:
- 30415 / 0.105 ~= 289,660
- 38419 / 0.13 ~= 295,530
But if we reverse-engineer the estimated group hunt HP for, where the Blast damage is about 5% of the scaled-up HP:
- 3pax @ 30415 / 0.05 ~= 608,300
- 4pax @ 38419 / 0.05 = 768,380
And then you match it to known 10-star Great Girros HP values:
The Riftcharged Great Girros Poison damage and Blast damage don’t make sense as they are not following the standard damage one would expect from a 10-star hunt, which has been the case so far in the past Base Defense hunts against the past Riftcharged monsters.
The expected damage values based on the 10-star HP are:
- Poison tick: 1,701
- 3pax Blast damage: 14,877
- 4pax Blast damage: 18,419
Actual damage vs Riftcharged Great Girros:
- Poison tick: 3,841 (225%)
- 3pax Blast damage: 30,415 (204%)
- 4pax Blast damage: 38,419 (208%)
Conclusion
- Either the poison/blast damage for Riftcharged Great Girros has been adjusted to be different from a 10-star Great Girros, or
- There is a mistake in setting the HP value of the Riftcharged Great Girros, resulting in the current situation
But if it’s the HP that’s adjusted incorrectly, the calculated HP from the Poison ticks and the Blast damage should converge onto a very similar value. This is not the case, unless the Poison tick damage and Blast damage are adjusted separately (which means a combination of point 1 and 2? this seems unlikely).
So that means it’s very likely to be point 1 at the very least.
If it is point 1, the question is, is it intended or a bug?
