I thought of some controls for the Insect Glaive.
Hold down to enter a range mode, similar to L/H Bowgun and Bow, then let go to launch the Kinsect.
The Kinsect will return automatically after hitting a monster or going a certain distance.
You can swipe to the sides or back to cancel out of range mode.
Hold down and swipe forward to launch yourself into the air.
While in the air swiping will now make you perform mid-air attacks in the direction you swipe.
