Increase status application for Chargeblades

提案/Suggestion

Improve status application for Chargeblades. Increase its status multiplier to be closer to Greatsword or Hammer.

現状/Current Status

Chargeblade right now has too hard of a time applying status. It has a higher status application multiplier than SnS but still applies status much less frequently. It needs a buff to status application.

Look at this 10.5 Pink Rathian CB against 10* Tobi, a monster weak to poison. He doesn’t get the poison to activate until 17s left on the timer.

Compare to this 10.5 Pink Rathian SnS. First poison at 60s left on the timer. Second poison at 9s left. https://youtu.be/ztRO5UKFqBc?si=5ggF_RE-bodSGl9o

The difference is 58 seconds to apply poison vs. 15 seconds. Sword and shield has lower status multiplier but applies status much faster in practice.

Against poison-neutral 10* monsters, Pink Rathian Chargeblade is completely hopeless in apply poison. Chargeblade players spend much of their time holding their shield to guard point, holding for AED stance, or loading phials. It attacks too slowly to apply status.

Have this same problem with my Girros CB where I can’t paralyse any monster other than those weak to it and in the last end of the hunt. It has basically become obsolete.

Good breakdown to cover status proc in Ailment weapons?

Weapons have a 1/3 chance on hit to apply status value (the status value of weapon + status attack skill). The status value that gets applied is adjusted by a multiplier based on weapon speed. For fast weapons such as SnS and Bow, it’s 1.0. For slower weapons such as Hammer and Greatsword, it’s 1.6 and 2.0 respectively. Without these multipliers, slow weapons would never be able to apply status because they do not attack quickly enough.

Certain weapons have multi-hit moves that can apply status. Wyrmstake Cannon on Gunlance, helmbreaker on Longsword, all 6 spread arrows on Bows, etc. These become favorable status weapons because their effective hit (and therefore status application) rate is faster than the balancing done by their status multiplier.

Chargeblade is considered a fast weapon with a multiplier of 1.3 but does not have great multi-hit moves. Axe mode attacks are slow. A single AED can add 3 hits of phial damage. Unfortunately, phial damage do not apply status. In sword mode, attacks are faster but you’re not suppose to stay in sword mode.

Chargeblades requires doing a lot of actions other than attacking, such as holding to block, holding to perform AEDs, loading phials, transforming back and forth between sword and axe mode, etc. The net effect is that Chargeblades have effective attack rates much lower than their 1.3 status multiplier would’ve suggested.

Chargeblades have attack rates close to Hammers but have a much worse status multiplier. A 10* poison neutral monster has > 6K status threshold. 6000 / 312 poison on Pink Rathian CB / 1.3 multiplier = 14.8 procs or 44 hits.

Keep in mind that a poison player needs all of these hits within the first 65 seconds of a fight so that poison could tick for the last 10 seconds. A Chargeblade player typically land 30 hits in 65 seconds. This is not enough to poison neutral monsters. The 10* Tobi is weak to poison, having only a 4.6K threshold. Even vs. monsters weak to poison, Chargeblade struggles to apply poison.

TLDR: Chargeblades attack slowly and needs a higher status multiplier similar to other status weapons.
