Issue Details
When using an Insect Glaive with Flight Type Kinsect with Aerial Bonus, such as the Black Diablos Insect Glaive,
After entering the Charged State for the first time in a hunt, the first Vaulting Dance or Kinsect Slash will not send out the kinsect to attack.
The observed pattern is that, there appears to be a max interval of “2 Kinsect attacks with every 3 Kinsect Slashes”, so if you performed the first 2 Vaulting Dances/Kinsect Slashes from the start of the hunt after charging up (Kinsect attacks on the second VD/KS), then you stop, then restart the VD/KS sequence and perform 3 of them in a row while still in charged state, the first VD/KS will send out the Kinsect to attack (this is the second attack out of 3 VD/KS) but not the second Kinsect Slash (start of a new set of 3 VD/KS), and the Kinsect will attack again on the third Kinsect Slash (second VD/KS of the new set of 3 VD/KS).
In other words, a Flight Type Kinsect with Aerial Bonus will only attack twice every three Vaulting Dance/Kinsect Slash during Charged State regardless of how the attack sequence is executed even when ensuring that the Kinsect is available for follow-up attacks in the air.
Insect Glaives with Flight Type Kinsect with Follow-Up Bonus (e.g. Rathalos Glaive) or Charged Harvest Bonus (e.g. Seregios Glaive) do not have this issue. Their Kinsects will consistently attack with follow-up attacks on every Vaulting Dance/Kinsect Slash during Charged State.
Translation by ChatGPT
When using an Insect Glaive with a “Flight” Kinsect Type and “Aerial Bonus” Kinsect Bonus (e.g., Black Diablos’ “Thanatos Glaive”), the Kinsect does not perform a follow-up attack on the first “Vaulting Dance” or “Kinsect Slash” performed after entering the Charged State for the first time after the hunt begins.
From the observed behavior, it appears that the number of Kinsect follow-up attacks is limited to “a maximum of 2 times per 3 Vaulting Dances / Kinsect Slashes”.
Specifically, the following occurs:
-
After the hunt starts, enter the Charged State for the first time.
-
When performing “Vaulting Dance / Kinsect Slash” twice, the Kinsect does not follow up on the 1st attack, but does follow up on the 2nd attack.
-
After that, pause attacks temporarily.
-
While maintaining the Charged State, perform “Vaulting Dance / Kinsect Slash” 3 times in a row again.
-
On the 1st attack after resuming, the Kinsect performs a follow-up attack (the 3rd total attack, and the Kinsect’s 2nd follow-up attack).
-
However, on the 2nd attack after resuming, the Kinsect does not follow up, and on the 3rd attack, it follows up again.
In other words, even if attacks are interrupted midway, the Kinsect’s follow-ups seem to repeat in a 3-attack cycle of “no follow-up → follow-up → follow-up”.
To put it another way, a Flight Type Kinsect with the Kinsect Bonus “Aerial Bonus” will only follow up 2 times for every 3 “Vaulting Dances / Kinsect Slashes” during Charged State. This phenomenon occurs regardless of whether attacks are performed continuously or interrupted midway. Furthermore, the same behavior occurs even after confirming that sufficient Kinsect stamina required for aerial follow-up attacks remains.
On the other hand, this phenomenon does not occur with the following Insect Glaives:
-
Insect Glaives with a Flight Type Kinsect and the Kinsect Bonus “Follow-Up Bonus” (e.g., Rathalos’ “Flame Glaive”)
-
Insect Glaives with a Flight Type Kinsect and the Kinsect Bonus “Charged Harvest Bonus” (e.g., Seregios’ “Cheeda Albalg”)
With these Insect Glaives, the Kinsect consistently performs a follow-up attack every time a “Vaulting Dance / Kinsect Slash” is performed during Charged State.

Nothing can be done to overcome this issue.

Due to upload file size limitation, I can only upload the first hit where it shows that the Kinsect does not perform the follow-up attack while using Black Diablos Glaive.
