提案/Suggestion
Improve how the game detects distance traveled or add an option to use steps instead, which is more reliable than distance.

Put simply, driftsmilting cannot be progresses by walking short distances and that’s annoying when it’s almost done. I don’t want to go for another walk right after I get home. Also doesn’t detect much when I walk in trails, which is discouraging and feels like I got cheated out of something; though I don’t think that’s the games fault and moreso that GPS works less good in deep woodland.

If the game was running (active in the foreground and you’re not looking at other apps), the distance tracked should be quite accurate.
Most of the inaccuracies come from when the game is running in the background or not running and relies on the operating system’s location data for judging the distance travelled. This part is entirely out of the game’s hands; if the OS doesn’t deem that you have travelled, there’s nothing it can tell the game that you have travelled.
The game can’t be pulling precise location info even when it’s not actively running—it will simply drain your phone’s battery even more quickly. It’s akin to switching on the GPS tracking on your GPS sportswatch all the time even when you’re not going for a run—your watch battery will run flat very quickly.

Yeah thats probably whats causing the inaccuracies. If theres no way to improve the tracking without using more gps, I aint gonna cry about it. I still want an option to use steps though since itd be better for my lifestyle but i could see that being too niche to be worth adding. The gps tracking is much better in cities and that is where most of the playerbase lives so steps is sorta redundant.
I agree i walk everyday after work, and it’s a gamble how much the game will register. To add insult to injury the results to driftsmelting are random.
I ran for 2.8km just two evenings ago and it only registered 0.1km
Next time I’ll try keeping the app running in the foreground when I run.
