Add a perk to the Prime Hunter’s Pass that allows the Palico to hunt a number of small monsters per day, collecting the sharp claws and wingdrake hides. The Prime Hunter’s Pass could be themed as a “Palico Boost Pass” since existing benefits also affect the Palico.
現状/Current Status
Collecting large numbers of sharp claws and wingdrake hides becomes tedious as killing many small monsters is repetitive.
You use small monsters for charging SP gauge too. Would you like to drop the ability to charge SP gauge using the small monsters too? Or to even just test out your new weapon type against dummy targets?
I’m not suggesting small monsters be removed from the game! Just that some additional source of small monster materials would be very welcome at higher upgrade levels, to the extent that it represents good IAP value.
I don’t mind having a companion Palamute do the small game hunting though haha. Just as the Palico gathers from the small gathering points, Palamute can hunt the small monsters automatically.
If I want to charge my SP or test moves, I’d just engage them myself instead.
And maybe give the Palamute a bag the same size as Palico’s to hold any sharp claws or wingdrake hides it may have gathered while offline.
But why? If anything, the number of materials small monsters generate should increase. Where are my small neopterons? Farming small monster parts (which are always needed) is already boring enough. Let’s not make even more tedious. I would genuinely want to see this be reworked to consists of something more than hitting small monster once or twice (small game pack hunting)
Moreover why locking a feature behind obvious paywall? Locking some of its functionality would be a better choice here. 2 extra slots for the existing palico collector with exclusivity for skins and fangs. It will still make collection of those materials way more boring, but at least you don’t need additional, fully premium system for it
Maybe I didn’t explain my suggestion very well, both comments seem to think I’m somehow proposing to remove things or making the default situation worse.
In general terms, I’m suggesting that the ability to collect claws & hides either more efficiently or with less actual input/attention while playing is something that I, and I believe others, would pay for.
I’m not going to say just flat no, but I’m not going to say that’s a good way to implement that. Sooner or later it will devolve into only SP or only to check moveset or whatever. Talking from experience, I’m currently using big resource nodes when I’m actually spent or when there’s a HaT. Palico collection (fully automated) and dailies keep my generic mats stock full enough to nit bother. An entire system i ignore simply because I don’t feel the need of using it
It’s not much better with small game. Fangs are kept at 300 (refill under 100) and skins - 1k (refill at 300) and Im ignoring small monsters for weeks on end. It’s bad already as is
And the worst part is, everyone and their mother can and will get to that point unless they build absolutely everything and requires thousands upon thousands of those basic materials
Heh. I’m always lacking the R1 gathering mats and the claws/hide, or the R3 large node mats. The only time I have excess is when I’m not upgrading anything at all.
How many pieces of gear are you trying to maintain at the same time? Cause it seems like you are upgrading everything you are able. Even if that’s the case, there’s a point where you will run out of things to upgrade. Idk, maybe I’m the weird one here, but I’m struggling with item box room actually
No, you’re not weird. It just demonstrates the diversity we have in the playerbase
Before this season, my only weapon at 8.x+ is Pukei Bow. The rest of the weapons are just “for fun” and stop at 7.5 for a long time while I focused the rest of my resources into upgrading the Pukei Bow to 10.5.
Now that I’m done with Pukei Bow and is starting to venture out into other weapons to add some variety to my game, I’m now constantly limited by equipment that happens to cost the same type of materials to upgrade
So, yeah.
Item Box management is always a nightmare. I have 10,750 slots and I still run out of space, and I’m just keeping a baseline of 40x each of R2+ of materials of monster that I do not need for upgrading my equipment. I don’t keep R1s of monsters that I do not need and do not have limited appearance (so I keep the R1s for subspecies only, unless I am sure I don’t use their weapon or armor at all).
Anyway, for my case, I don’t usually forge/upgrade stuffs, but when I do, it’s a full set from scratch, and you know how much mats it takes just to make the set viable to hunt monsters with when you’re on a 10-star map.
So if there are additional features that can just help to automate a little more of the gathering process, especially for the shared materials that easily number in the tens and hundreds, I’d take it.
And you probably might have caught on that I don’t actually travel to hunt specifically, hence the bottleneck in exploration-related resources (mainly the gathering mats since those can’t be acquired from hunting). I have other things to do, so I can’t spend hours on this game at once. I get by with whatever I can reach while commuting or while drifting nearby at home/office. As long as I can clear the event quests and daily quests, I’m good
Ah, this may explain the difference in perspectives. I play in a very similar manner (on my way to/from work or when walking elsewhere on my own), so I frequently ignore small monsters in order to make sure I catch large monsters before I walk past them.
This could be what leads to less claws/hides available.
Ye, this is clearly a different playstyle. I have similar playtime to Chalor, mostly hunting while commuting to/from work and while walking my doggie. But at the same time, knowing my previous MonHun mistakes of wanting everything ever, I’m limiting myself to weapon/element combo that I’m working towards with the end goal being - once I’m done with both highest possible medal AND build for basically everything, I’m going to go wild and upgrade with reckless abandon. That coupled with the fact that I’m certainly regearing every season means I’m sitting on overflowing storage and with thousands of zenny for weeks on end. If I need to grind, I’m doing it in very short, controlled bursts, mostly to ressuply. Therefore for me specifically auto collection of yet another resource will not only be boring, it’s going to be straight up detrimental cause I need to keep track of my item box very carefully
For the record, new season will be a godsent cause not only we get khezu, which I don’t really like, which will most likely have it’s iconic ele-para twins, so that’s a respec (since my ele build currently is zino gun), we get kush and with him kush blessing, so that’s a second respec and finally to fill my bowgun slot there’s basarios, so that’s, say it with me, a respec. 3 full overhauls essentially, to keep up with the whatever the mystery monster of July will be (it’s mizu, fight me). That means I will be finally able to spend at least some of the materials I’ve been hoarding for the past month
