From what I understand, pressing “-“ to select all items for deletion was removed because of loads of people deleting all of their items accidentally and creating a big headache for the support people. Well, the location of the new “All” button, in the exact location of the “+” button, is only going to amplify that headache. My hunting buddy has already wiped out 103 Legiana claws, that had taken him weeks to collect (he wanted to delete only 3 of them) and has had to log his first ever ticket with support in order to try to get them back.
Yes, I think that it is a good idea that we now have the “All” button, but not RIGHT NEXT TO the button that you actually use when you are only deleting a couple of items. How on earth did that get out without someone picking up on the potential for disaster?
It needs to be
“All”, “-“, “typable field”, “+”
Keep the “All” button but move it as far away as possible from the “+” button. The new layout is not only a disaster waiting to happen, but a disaster that is already happening.
現状/Current Status
Location of the new “All” button makes it the default to delete everything. Going to create massive support issues.
Update: my hunting buddy has spent three days going back and forth with Niantic Support.
They say that they can’t find any record of his 103 Legiana Claws being deleted and asked him to reconfirm the date. He told them that the date was the date on which v87.0 was released: Tuesday 29th October. Approximately 17:30 in the afternoon. They said again that they could not find any deletion.
He then sent them a screenshot of his entire stock of Legiana parts, of which he had huge stocks of everything else, but zero claws. He then said to them “OK, so if I didn’t delete any claws and I don’t have any claws, then logically I can only have spent them on upgrading a weapon. Please can you tell me on which weapon I am supposed to have used these 103 claws. Or even any claws”. They replied to say that it is not their job to tell him on what he spent his materials.
Of course, he is furious that weeks of hard work are gone at the tap of a button. A button that wasn’t even there a few hours earlier.
So there you have it: a “delete all” button, which you will use only extremely rarely, right next to (and in the original position of) the button that you are likely to use the most, and if you do inadvertently do a “delete all”, support will not get it back for you.
Yes, it is a “nice to have” function, but it REALLY needs to be as far away as possible from the “+”, button, especially now that we know that nothing is going to be done in the event that “disaster” strikes.
