Rewards/Bonuses for Obtaining Hunter Medals

Implementing rewards or bonuses tied to hunter medals can help motivate players to complete milestones they otherwise would have ignored while offering more long-term goals.
For the hunter medals that require you to slay a monster 50, 500 and 1000 times, reward the player with bonus materials. For example: earning a bronze medal for slaying 50 Banbaro will occasionally reward the player with +1 basic reward, after slaying 500 occasionally reward the player with +1 or +2 basic reward and after slaying 1000 occasionally reward the player with +1, +2 or +3 basic rewards. This way players may feel more motivated to slay at least 50 of each monster as quickly as possible so they may have the chance to get an additional reward, then moving towards the next milestone. I imagine players feeling great anticipation as they wait to see if they received any additional rewards from the hunter medal bonus, then feeling delighted as they receive it.
For the hunter medals requiring the player to use a specific weapon a number of times, reward the player with ways to customize their guild card. For example: slaying a monster 1000 times with the hammer rewards the player with a guild background and slaying a monster 2000 times rewards a new pose with the hunter wielding a hammer. A purely cosmetic reward that offers no advantage to hunts can deter players from sticking to a single weapon and instead motivate players obtain a gold hunter medal with each weapon.
For every remaining hunter medal with the exception of limited time event medals, layered amour or some minor bonus during gameplay correlating with the task of the medal may be rewarded to the player.

現状/Current Status

Currently hunter medals are used to show that the player has participated in a limited time event or has reached a milestone for doing a specific task a number of times, offering the exact number of times these tasks have been done when examining. Up to 3 medals can be displayed in the hunter’s guild card which can be seen by players in their friends list. At the moment there are no rewards or bonuses for obtaining hunter medals and has lowered my motivation to obtain more hunter medals.

I’m Gonna ask the immortal question as someone who does milestone for the sake of it and have quite a few of gold ones already: what about veterans? Is this going to be retroactive? Cause that’s a lot of rewards I’ll miss out, being punished for using system as intented in the first place

If you’re referring to the rewards like layered armor, guild poses, guild backgrounds, etc. Then yes, it would be retroactive! I can imagine a screen that would allow you to claim these rewards or it’ll automatically gift it you after an update. Now for the bonus basic rewards you could have gotten from killing a specific monsters 50 to 1000 times, I cannot imagine a way for them to compensate veteran players without causing issues with box space, calculation and distribution. To alleviate this frustration they could provide a one-time-only reward in addition to the bonus that could reward G5 materials or possibly wyvern gem shards, however that’ll depend on how generous the team is allowed to be.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t mind medals being just an achievement thing, optional feature for people who care for it, and nothing more. See if you lock rewards behind them, it will make Sunday players disgruntled, as they now have yet another layer of muck to paddle through to unlock something. There are people who are happy doing their daily dose of pocket MonHun with their one main weapon and let’s leave it at that. Unless it’s something that affects this specific weapon group and only it (eg. Smelt slot on silver and layered on gold for bows for respective levels with bow usage medal) I can’t simply see this not turning into a disaster. Not to mention there are ones that are straight up impossible, like the unique gathering spots one

In my post I mentioned “may be rewarded to the player”, I understand some silver/gold medals are difficult to get and realistically should not offer a reward. To bring up another game that does something similar, Pokemon Go sometimes offers a reward for only reaching the bronze medal and doesn’t incentivize players to go any further through rewards.
Understand that an improvement like this would benefit every player both Sunday players and more active players because it beats what we have now, which is nothing. To quote my original post “obtaining hunter medals and has lowered my motivation to obtain more hunter medals”, this has caused me to skip hunting monsters for example Kulu-Ya-Ku and Radobaan or using other weapons; no rewarding goal may cause other players to lose interest in gameplay as well.
An improvement like this would cater to players who lack long-term goals in this game and create more ways for the every player to feel satisfaction with the possible addition of cosmetics, bonus basic rewards or other gameplay bonuses.
