Hi Monster Hunter Now team! :waving_hand:

I have a feature suggestion: please consider adding an optional virtual joystick/touchpad for map movement.

Sometimes there are very few monsters around my location, and walking around while constantly looking at my phone can be unsafe, especially near roads. A joystick could let players move around a limited area around their real location while still keeping exploration as an important part of the game.

It would make the game much less boring when there aren’t many monsters nearby, while also making movement more convenient and safer.

Please consider it! :joystick::folded_hands:

I strongly support this idea. I would also suggest making the movement speed adjustable, allowing players to choose a suitable speed depending on the situation, while still having an appropriate maximum speed limit set by the game.

The joystick could simply control the hunter’s position on the map, with the game clearly displaying the current movement speed and applying the same movement restrictions as the normal game.

I think this would be especially useful when there are monsters or gathering points just outside the player’s current area, while also making the game safer for players who don’t want to constantly walk while looking at their phone.

If implemented as an official in-game feature, with appropriate speed limits and restrictions, it could provide the convenience of controlled movement without requiring third-party software.

Great feedback on safety:double_exclamation_mark:

I really agree with both points here.

The safety concern is super important—
constantly looking at your phone while walking
is genuinely risky.

CaesarX4499 makes a lot of sense with
the technical details:

Speed limits :white_check_mark:
Server validation :white_check_mark:
Clear movement display :white_check_mark:
Optional feature :white_check_mark:

These would help with real concerns:

:video_game: Fair gameplay
:round_pushpin: GPS accuracy
:busts_in_silhouette: Community balance

Honestly, this feels like a real win:

:white_check_mark: Safer gameplay
:white_check_mark: Still have exploration
:white_check_mark: Game stays balanced
:white_check_mark: More accessible

Hope Niantic takes this seriously:double_exclamation_mark:
This kind of feedback actually makes
games better:double_exclamation_mark:

Thanks for your support! I hope more people can see and interact with this post, so it gets more attention from the community. The post has already been shared with the development team, so hopefully, with more community support, they might consider this idea for a future update. :folded_hands:

You can open the Wide View map and move the map around to see where the monsters are on the map, then note down the location and switch to a real map app to check the route there before putting your phone away and focus on navigating.

You’re right, and that’s a good way to plan where to go. However, one thing I really like about this game is that moving around also causes more monsters to spawn, including small monsters that are useful for farming.

Also, not everyone lives in an area where the suggested locations are easily accessible. Reaching some places might require taking a car or public transportation. Of course, that can still be part of the intended gameplay, but not everyone has access to a car or convenient public transportation.

You could also argue that if someone lives far away from everything, even with a joystick it would take a long time to reach those areas. That’s actually why I also suggested a Fast Travel system in another post: the joystick could be useful for moving around locally, while Fast Travel could help players reach distant areas.

I’m not suggesting this because I don’t want to go outside or because I want to avoid the exploration aspect of the game. I also don’t want to use accessibility as an excuse. However, I think an official joystick could genuinely help players who have difficulties with mobility, while also being useful in situations where moving around physically isn’t practical.

That’s why I see it as an additional option rather than a replacement for real-world exploration. Players who enjoy walking and exploring normally could continue doing so, while others would have another way to interact with the map.
