Hi, please note that affinity mechanisms do not affect the explosive hit of the sticky ammo and also does not affect the stun rate. Only the Slugger skill can affect the stun rate of stun attacks.
Ah, I see what you mean. But without visual demonstration of the actual cases, it is difficult to filter out the inconsequential variables from the actual variables that matter.
I am trying to test the hypothesis that a monster’s fast movement could cause the explosion to not hit the body part that the sticky ammo landed on. This hypothesis seems more likely to be the cause of the problem than the affinity mechanism. There is the ongoing issue where Gunlance’s wyrmstake ammo may not deal damage to the monster even though it sticks to the monster (it stuck to an invisible layer of the monster). They have tried to fix it in the past, but the underlying problem persists. Therefore I believe this issue that you are reporting is more related to the monster’s movement/model than to the affinity mechanism.
As such, without video recording and therefore visual evidence of how the sticky ammo are stuck onto the monster and what the monster was doing at the time of explosion, we cannot understand fully the circumstances and therefore difficult to troubleshoot and figure out the cause.
I am able to stun the 10-star Rathian using just 4 sticky ammo.
Of note, I landed all 4 sticky ammo on the face of the monster.
Next, I will try to land the sticky ammo when Rathian dashes.
Previously, I have tried to land the sticky ammo on Rathian when it does the horizontal tail spin, but it didn’t get stunned, but I may not have landed my sticky ammo on the head. I will have to capture a video where the shots landed on the face properly and explode as it spins.
I seek to understand if it is due to improper position of where the sticky ammo lands or whether if it is truly due to monster’s movement.
This week, the event includes exclusive appearance of Kirin in Elder Dragon Interceptions.
The Anjanath Light Bowgun is fatally affected by this problem because its fire sticky ammo is not going to be able to reliably deal damage to the Kirin’s horn and stun/break it as Kirin is a very mobile monster.
This is also my only weapon against Kirin, and I specially crafted a weapon with fire sticky ammo for the express purpose of stunning Kirin while dealing pinpoint damage to the horn for breaking it.
Please let the developers know that they have to release an emergency patch for this problem as it practically nullifies the function of an entire weapon.
