Select any equipment (“Equipment A”) to driftsmelt with any driftstone/driftgem.
Then, select another piece of equipment (“Equipment B”) to driftsmelt any driftstone/driftgem using the Insta-Smelt Solution.
Conclude the smelting process for Equipment B and exit the driftsmelting screen, then continue to clock distance until the regular driftsmelting process for Equipment A is complete.
Upon completing the driftsmelting process for Equipment A, check the results.
Observe that the target equipment for this regular driftsmelt became Equipment B instead of Equipment A.
Expected
When using Insta-Smelt Solution to driftsmelt skills to another equipment, the ongoing regular driftsmelt process should not be interrupted or modified by the insta-smelt process.
Notes
I kept the game running and hunting as I clocked the remaining distance for the regular driftsmelting process. I did not close the game or restart the game. Not sure if this mattered.
Addendum 2025-10-03 0240hrs UTC:
I was driftsmelting Mizutsune Legs, which had like 3/10 driftsmelt skills. Then I exchanged for and insta-smelted a driftgem H on my Volvidon Chest which had 10/10 driftsmelt skills. Then I went back to the field map and continued to clock the distance for the regular driftsmelt. Upon completing the driftsmelt, the driftsmelt completion screen asked me to delete a skill to make space for the incoming driftsmelted skill, which should not have occurred since I was driftsmelting on Mizu legs, but the driftsmelt completion screen looked entirely as if I was driftsmelting Volvidon Chest all along. The last time I driftsmelted something on Volvidon Chest was in the last season or earlier, so it was not in the recently driftsmelted equipment list either and could not have been an operation mistake.
Hmm just about a few minutes before I posted. Around 8.20pm UTC+8 on 2nd Oct. If you checked my records, I should have only 1 insta-smelt solution usage in the past couple of days.
Hi @NianticModKIC, I just wish to report that the issue is still happening in v108.
I was driftsmelting Mysterious Driftstone K on Chatacabra Legs.
At around 0133hrs (UTC), I exchanged for a Mysterious Driftgem H and proceeded to use Instasmelt Solution with it on Volvidon Chest.
Then, I just completed the driftsmelt for Mysterious Driftstone K at around 0210hrs (UTC) and it got smelted on Volvidon Chest instead of Chatacabra Legs.

Our investigation team continues to investigate, but has not been able to reproduce the issue.
Could you tell me what skill was accidentally applied to another equipment?
I cannot remember now. I can only remember what stones/gems were involved as mentioned above.
Try these steps:
Start driftsmelting any driftstone for Equipment A.
Exchange for a Driftgem.
Go back to Equipment screen and look for any other armor (“Equipment B”).
Tap the equipment to open its details, then tap the button to open the list of driftsmelted skills.
Scroll down and tap the “Driftsmelt this equipment” button, which brings us to the driftsmelting screen.
Select the driftgem exchanged at Step 2.
Tap the “Driftsmelt” button.
Tap “Insta-Smelt”.
Confirm the skill acquired (the skill acquired doesn’t matter), then tap either “Swap” or “Don’t swap” (it doesn’t matter), then close the driftsmelt result screen, which now brings us back to the Driftsmelting screen.
Tap the back arrow button at the bottom left corner and exit all the way back to the field map without doing anything else.
While leaving the game on and running in the foreground, proceed to clock the distance required to complete the driftsmelting for Equipment A.
Once the driftsmelt is complete, open the driftsmelt results.
Observe that the equipment shown is Equipment B, not Equipment A, and the skill acquired from driftsmelting is added to the list of driftsmelted skills in Equipment B instead of Equipment A.
Interesting. I just tried to reproduce this issue but using another Mysterious Driftstone K instead of a Driftgem, and I cannot reproduce this issue.
But I also took the extra step to revisit my ongoing driftsmelt on “Equipment A” to verify which equipment is being smelted, and it shows “Equipment A”. I think this particular step here helped to ensure that the currently driftsmelted equipment remains as Equipment A, not Equipment B, because after completing the normal driftsmelt for Equipment A, the “last driftsmelted equipment” is showing Equipment B instead of Equipment A (it should be Equipment A since that was the one that was completed after the insta-smelting on Equipment B).
I think it has to be a very specific set of steps. Please consider trying the steps I listed above and see you can reproduce it, without deviating a single bit from the listed steps. Don’t do anything extra. Just follow the steps only. Don’t tap or open anything else.
If I can earn enough driftstone shards to purchase another driftgem, I’ll try to do a video recording.
While driftsmelting mysterious driftstone K for Nargacuga Head, I used insta-smelt solution to smelt another mysterios driftstone K for Bazelgeuse Chest, then I checked the driftsmelt tank to see that it’s still showing Nargacuga Head. This is what happened in the last reply above.
When the normal driftsmelting process for Nargacua Head completed, I saw that the “Currently selected” equipment is Bazelgeuse Chest.
I went to the equipment screen, changed to my Hammer loadout, which I had Beotodus Chest equipped. From this screen, I opened the details for Beotodus Chest, scrolled down to tap the button to open the list of driftsmelted skills on this equipment, tapped “Driftsmelt this equipment”, then selected a Mysterious Driftstone K to driftsmelt normally.
I went on to hunt about 3 more monsters, including a Chameleos, and then I returned to the field map after slaying the Chameleos and the driftsmelting process completed and the driftsmelting result screen appeared.
However, instead of showing the Beotodus Chest armour, it showed the Bazelgeuse Chest armour instead. The skill that got smelted was Focus, Defense +1. This was supposed to be on Beotodus Chest armour, not Bazelgeuse Chest armour.
This just happened, and I quickly came here to write this reply.
The second attempt to driftsmelt on Beotodus Chest armor went normally.
I think this is due to the use of insta-smelt solution and under specific steps.
I would love to try this a few more times to reproduce the issue for you but insta-smelt solution is not free for me, so I cannot just insta-smelt any random stone I have on hand.

I checked your account log and found Bazelgeuse Chest is set to the tank instead of Beotodus Chest. (10/23 18:45 JST)
Therefore, the logs appear to show that no issues have occurred.
So, if there’s a issue, it’s that Bazelgeuse Chest is entered the tank instead of Beotodus Chest.
However, even when I follow your instructions, the issue does not reproduce.
To proceed with this investigation, could you provide evidence that definitively confirms Beotodus Chest was set? (Screenshot or Your certain memory. If you’re confident in your memory, we will believe you.)
Additionally, you do not need to use consumable items only for additional investigations.

The issue only occurs when I use the Insta-smelt solution. Therefore, I cannot reproduce the issue without using that consumable item.
I am 5 driftstone shards away from exchanging for another driftgem. I will be using an Insta-smelt solution for that, so I will do a long video recording to demonstrate the issue and then upload the video to another platform before sharing with you. For privacy concerns, I will share the link via in-game support while referencing this topic.
As for the 2 earlier reported occurrences involving the driftgems and insta-smelt solutions, I assume that the logs would show some strangeness where the smelting of the driftstones went to the armour that was insta-smelted with a driftgem while the armour pieces were supposed to be different pieces (I was trying to insta-smelt Status Sneak Attack to my 16th loadout, named パラライザー while driftsmelting other unrelated equipment).
I’ll report back after I have shared the video link via in-game support as a bug.
Unfortunately, the issue did not occur this time, so I won’t be submitting a video at this point. I won’t be using another insta-smelt solution again for some time since i’m out of driftstone shards to exchange driftgems for, so I can’t provide any further evidence for now.
I’ll keep an eye out for this as I work towards another driftgem.
This has happened to me before on 20th October around 10am NZT. My smelt that was set on my Mizutsune chest was moved over to my Nargacuga coil after it was completed.
