I wish they wouldn’t run around so far out of range, though.

Is your feedback regarding the hunter or the monster?

Like displaying the “Distance to Monster” as a number, or something.

Changing the color of the display based on distance might help you decide which action to take.

Close range → White text (stationary attack comes out axe

Mid-range → Orange text (closing attack comes out)

Long range → Red text (sliding comes out)

Or something like that

Sorry for not being clearer:sweat_droplets: I meant hunters. It’s particularly troublesome when people with ranged weapons hang back out of range to see what happens, causing the monster to move away from melee hunters.

Thank you. You’re a fellow hunter, I take it.

As far as I’m aware, inputs turning into forward movement on ranged weapons really only happens with Bow’s Dodgebolt style, so I think this proposal is mainly an improvement for melee weapons.

Therefore, I feel the issue of “accidental forward movement”—which can happen even in solo play—and the issue of hunter positioning in multiplayer are two separate matters.

Of course, the “marathon” issue in multiplayer is brought up quite often, so I can understand your concerns.

What I mean by the “current state” is, for example, say you’re using a Long Gunlance, and a monster winds up for a short-range attack → at the same time, you try to take advantage of the Long type’s long reach to attack right at the edge of range → you tap to attack, but misjudge the distance and move forward into the monster’s range, get hit, and die.

If tapping didn’t make you move forward, the attack would just whiff and you wouldn’t die.
