Thanks a lot for commenting on this thread!
Your opinion really matters, because it shows this issue is a worldwide concern, not just something limited to Japan.
About the “delay,” I know you’re absolutely right, and I can imagine how frustrating it must be to keep waiting for IG.
Since our voices have already reached the MHNow development team, I’d love if you could also share some professional thoughts about kinsects and IG motions. It looks like they still need more concrete ideas for IG implementation, and your input could really help speed things up.
We all miss you, and the Discord members (including me, of course!) are hoping you’ll come back to the game.
Hopefully, the development team will make a decision about IG implementation in the early months of next year.
I’m not sure I am returning to this game. Two years is a long time to wait for constant disappointment and I just don’t see a reason to keep playing any more unless the IG releases sooner than they announced
I see this thread has been shared with the team, but what do you mean by they need concrete ideas? I imagine their team already has plans for implementation and I doubt the opinions of forumgoers will affect that.
My biggest concerns are that they have the weapon ready and are holding it off to implement it with its styles and with mounting and they shouldn’t do that at all. Insect Glaive doesn’t need mounting, and this game doesn’t need it either due to the time limit.
If the delay is caused by the difficult implementation of Kinsects having their own evolution chains, then simplify it for IG release and lock each Glaive to a Kinsect, then later implement proper Kinsects when their implementation fits. As much as I want my Chameleos Insect Glaive with Pseudocath, I’m fine having any Kinsect as long as I get my Insect Glaive as soon as possible.
I doubt anything I do or say will lead to it being released faster, but if I’m wrong, I’m more than happy to help in whatever way necessary to get it released.
You mentioned that an official image of the Insect Glaive was released earlier this year, but I couldn’t find it myself—and even when I asked an AI to look for it, nothing turned up. Since I’m in a Japanese-based environment and using AI translation for these replies, if the information is mainly circulating in English sources, I’d be very interested in seeing it.
I also agree that simply making complaints won’t speed things up, but I believe that offering suggestions, compromises, or ideas at least gives the developers something to consider. Even if it doesn’t directly accelerate the release, it seems more constructive than just venting frustration.
And that is fair. I have tried to mix some constructivity into my complaints, but it’s been difficult for me to not be pessimistic at this point. If I were to provide my input on the implementation with some bullet points:
Implement Insect Glaive as a baseline weapon as soon as possible with specific Kinsects assigned to each weapon rather than having a separate tree for them (similar to ammo with ranged weapons and phials with Swaxe/CB). Do not add mounting. Do not add styles yet.
Implement a separate Kinsect growth system later and release it with the weapon styles. These two features, while important, can wait until after we get the Insect Glaive.
Only have two buffs, red and white/orange (combine them). Make the buffs individually last 12 seconds and last 30 seconds when combined.
Assign the jump to the special button. The special is downward strike and can only be used when airborne (think similarly to Dual Blades and Demon Mode)
Kinsect send out should be on hold + swipe forward and it should go to the location being locked on unless the player is in gyro. Hold + Swipe back marks the monster to send the kinsect out to attack for you or returns the kinsect to you if it’s currently out.
EDIT: I just want to add that I appreciate you translating to English to reply to me. Thank you. I’ve been using Google Translate to read the posts here so I can understand the conversation, but I’m hesitant to use it to translate to Japanese because I know Google Translate makes a lot of mistakes
I’ve been playing for two years because of how fun this game is, preparing for and looking forward to using the Insect Glaive. Two years is a long time to wait and if it were a more popular weapon that was last like Bow or Longsword, there would be an uproar.
This game isn’t a standalone hunting role playing game, it’s a role playing game from a series that puts heavy emphasis on the weapons you use being reflective of your personality. Capcom even releases personalities quizzes to help match players to the weapon type. Weapons are more than just tools in this game and this series and Capcom has put a lot of effort in making that clear.
I’ve been using different weapons than the one I use in the main series for two years now. I’m HR 342. I’ve played a lot of other weapons while waiting for my main weapon to be released and watching it not get released for so long is frustrating.
And again, if it were longsword or another of the most popular weapons that hadn’t been released, most of the community would agree with me.
I can certainly understand that seeing the weapon appear in the promotional video makes it feel like implementation must be close, and I also see where epoa is coming from.
At the same time, as octohead mentioned, the Insect Glaive is ultimately one option among many available to hunters.
Looking at the Monster Hunter series as a whole, the roster of monsters and systems has always varied from title to title. In other words, it has never been guaranteed that everything will always be included.
That said, I do understand the current frustration from Insect Glaive users about their storage being taken up by materials held in anticipation of its release.
As one possible solution, I’d like to propose a system where materials from the previous and second-previous seasons are gradually relaxed with each new season update.
For example, if the amount of style enhancement materials required during events were reduced over the course of two seasons, players would no longer need to hold on to so many materials, which should significantly ease storage pressure.
The monster roster has changed, but for each of the mainline 14 weapons, every game since their introduction has included them except for the Glaive in MHNow. The only weapons that have been dropped from the series are weapons that showed up in side games once like Tonfas and Magnet Spike. It’s always been guaranteed since Insect Glaive was added in 4U that it would be in every Monster Hunter game, just like the other main roster weapons.
I like your idea and voted for it. It’s a good feature for newer players and existing players that want to try every weapon.
Thank you for liking the idea! I just wanted to point out one thing: in the main series MH3, Dual Blades, Bow, Hunting Horn, and Gunlance were removed and replaced by the Switch Axe. Also, Monster Hunter Now is a smartphone game, so it’s not part of the main series—it’s more like Stories or Explorers. I think this is the first time in a subseries that all 14 weapons have been confirmed to appear together.
